So I'm a big fan of MMA but I'm trying to get into Boxing so I thought I'd make this thread for fans of either to talk about fights/events. I'm still a bit confused about boxing like there being so many belts and stuff but I'm gonna be watching the Canelo/Khan fight tonight. Anyone else watching it ?

Don't really care about this fight or either of the boxers in it. Neither one will fight 3G afterwards. Not that 3G should fight either of these guys, he should be fighting Andre ward. All that said, I pick the pumpkin by ko +/-7th round.
Iamahab, there are a lot of belts in each weight class, you're right. You kinda have to just follow the sport for a little while to figure out who's the man at a given weight and who the real contenders are.

Another thing I'l have to get used to is the weight classes, there's also a lot more weight classes in boxing and they seem to be smaller than their mma counterparts. For example Light Heavyweight in boxing is 175 pounds whereas in MMA 170 is Welterweight. |

From what I've read Khan apparently has a weak chin, not a good sign if he's going up in weight to fight somone.

Kahn's fast, but Canelo's a solid combination power puncher/boxer. I don't think Kahn can avoid a damaging combo for the entire night. His chin won't handle when it comes.
But then again, I was way wrong about the Klitschko/Fury fight.

Just noticed the guy announcing the results is the same announcer that used to do the WEC, which was the biggest MMA organisation for lower weight classes before the UFC had lower weight classes.

Khan didn't look as if he could hurt Canelo at a distance, also his legs are too weak to take heavy shots.

Anyone watching UFC right now, Overeem vs Arlovski, just tuned in and Gunnar Nelson vs Albert Tumenov is just about to start.

Overeem is known nowadays for being a bit chinny too but in his last two fights he's being fighting very different, much more strategic and defensive, I was shocked a couple of months ago when he knocked out Junior Dos Santos.
