Megadeth would be more palatable, if not on a different stratosphere, for me if someone like John Bush, Tom Angelripper, or even Heathen's Dave White was the lead singer.

I wonder if Marty might return on a permanent basis, you never know. We do, he won't. Dave doesn't want partners, he wants employees and Marty has too big of a career in Japan to leave it behind. |

I can see a Marty guest spot on their next album coming to fruition, but I can also see Dave talking crap about Marty in interviews next year. Either way, Dave + the hired guys is Megadeth from here on out. Menza's death followed by David's BS cemented Megadeth's status for the rest of the band's career now that a classic line-up reunion can't possibly happen.

The RIP era Megadeth is one of my favorite bands. All four albums they did are all great for different reasons. RIP and CTE are legendary, Youth is my personal favorite, and Cryptic is commercial Megadeth done right.
Probably a hot take, I love Gar and Chris Poland especially but 80s Megadeth is just good to me. Good songs, but as whole albums they don’t particularly stand out to me. And I did a deep dive on the SFSGSW era recently and released how hard Dave briefly tried to make the band nearly hair metal. That album is a bad attempt at being commercial.

It's going ok... the problem is starting. Once I get into it, it flows but the first sentence is always tough. I need to be more regimented with my writing really. Need to carve out time in the day. I checked out what the band has been playing on tour lately and as expected it's the same shit as always. They've still only done two songs from the new album live, one of which they skipped at their last show. Lame.
I loathe any Megadeth vs Metallica argument that people try to pull, but I couldn't ever imagine myself following Megadeth to the degree that I follow Metallica because of how uninteresting they keep that aspect of the band.

Some of those songs could have been shorter for better as far as I'm concerned. I gave the album a listen last weekend to rememebr if it still holds the excitement of being fresh. Like you said, not bat but not great either bar few parts and perhaps few songs. I have a soft spot for Celubutante. This and We'll be Back are two songs that save the second half for me. |

Great song structure, great riffs, the vocals have power and grit to them. And the lyrics feel like Dave without that old man Dave cringe. |
