I like Dystopia except The emperor and the atrocios coversong. Definitely the two worst offenders. It'd be stronger if it just had 9 songs and ended with Lying In State. Wish it had less tin foil hat lyrics but that riff at 2:24 is so gnarly.
Also, does Dave do a spoken word bit in every song now? Jesus.

The worse part is going on the Megadeth subreddit and seeing the amount of kool-aid drinking that still goes on in the fandom. I think a serious "Metallica sucks" sort of post gets traction there every few weeks. I try to separate the artist from the music sometimes, but my Megadeth phases are pretty short nowadays.

I gave it another listen last weekend.
Alright, it is not bad at all. But somehow lacks the wow factor, it it makes any sense.
I'll take Dystopia over this any day.

On Lulu there was this old guy talking oversome random music. I have the same feeling about some of Megadave's songs. Sacrifice and Dogs of Chernobyl are just stories (and don't even rhyme) on melody with some random music paying in the background.

If Dave ever had less of an ego, I'd dream about him cleaning up whatever other Nick demos they did in 2014 (I heard it was 5-6 songs) and grab Marty to lay down some solos. But that's more impossible than the GNR reunion was at this point. |
