Many might know, Load's cover is a picture of blood, semen and something else...
But, what about the cover of Reload. Some firestorm, what...?

Always preferred the cover of Reload to Load. The cover art for St. Anger and DM is poor imo.

I always found the album covers kind and of boring to look at as iconic as some of them are. An album cover like for South of Heaven has so much going on that you can always find something new when you look at. Where as with Metallica its like, here's a graveyard or here's a statue.

Many iconic albums have got quite simple cover art. Just look at Velvet Underground & Nico for example. I really like clean covers such as that one. I don't really need the album art to tell a particularly complex story (the music usually does that good enough for me) even though it might be nice and fitting in some cases.

I find South Of Heaven one of their most boring album covers. It's so visually unappealing and bland, even if it has stuff going on.

Their best album cover is Justice and it makes a great poster.

Do I remember the story correctly if I say that James wasn't really happy with the cover of Load, Kirk had found it somewhere and it ended as the cover somehow... What about Reload cover? Any story on that? Does James hate that one too?

And I agree with you about St. Angers cover art, I really like it.

Death magnetic could have used some more orange and red.

That's why I was wondering whether he likes it or not because it's by the same dude... Regardless they probably wanted to have something similar stylistically since the albums "belong" together.
