I agree with HR. Both artists have their share of great songs, but from their whole 30/40 year careers, you could maybe fill a CD with enough good songs. Maybe. I'd say each of their catalogues are 90\93% Crap.

I agree with HR. Both artists have their share of great songs, but from their whole 30/40 year careers, you could maybe fill a CD with enough good songs. Maybe. I'd say each of their catalogues are 90\93% Crap. How many percent of Bowie's and Prince' output have you listened to...? Shouldn't that aspect be taken into consideration in your judgement of their music catalogues? |

Prince released 39 studio albums in his career. With his knack for songwriting and making international superhits, it is mathematically impossible that his good songs would only fill one or two CDs. |

Well he was a Jehova's. Shame if that was the death of him.
But fuck that overrated stuff. That guy was a legend and nobody will be like him again. It's pretty weird. I'm reading ?uestlove's first book right now, the autobiography (or as much as one could be the way he tells the story through interviews / LPs he bought etc.) and he keeps on bringing up Prince. The way in the 80s (I'm only that far) he was doing things nobody else was and was making waves in black areas in the US.
How he would buck the trend in funk (dropping the bass from songs) and unite people that wouldn't be united before (releasing Purple Rain), cause ruckus (PMRC).
Just weird how I got to that section this week.
