New iPhones not lookin good.... The screen says "Your Passcode Is Required to Enable Face ID". It didn't fail, it just wasn't enabled. It was a pretty rough presentation though, just showing things other phones have had for years and then pricing it at $1000 because it's "the future". Yes, it was the future 2 years ago.

If that was the case he should have just enabled the Face ID and then showed how it worked. Instead he got all flustered and just skipped over it like it was some kind of mistake. I would have liked to have seen how it worked instead of just passing by it. Is this the kind of leadership they have at Apple now? People who can't think on their toes and make rookie mistakes? No wonder the latest MacBook is the first in Apple history not to make the Consumer Reports best list. And there is absolutely nothing on the new iPhones that makes them worth purchasing over the last generation iPhone 7. A 'revolutionary' glass encasement and a better camera? Big whoop....shit's not worth 1G. And also...

I would have liked to have seen how it worked instead of just passing by it. He did show it working a few minutes later, he unlocked his phone twice with his face. They put way to much emphasis on it anyway, Face Unlock has been in Android since 2012. Granted the iPhone X has a depth sensor so it can't be tricked by photos, but phones (including iPhones) have already solved security/unlock efficiency with finger print sensors. I feel like it's a really convoluted, probably more expensive and surprisingly inelegant solution for Apple; replacing a button with a fucking IR laser array. Coupled with things like the camera bridge at the top of the screen and the camera protruding from the back and it ends up having a bunch of design compromises Apple have literally celebrated fixing in the past that no phone at that price should have. It's only "the phone of the future" because you should literally wait til next years before considering it, when they'll have an easy list of checkmarks to fix that everyone will applaud when they shouldn't have been there in the first place. I can overlook nitpick flaws on most phones, but not a $1000 supposedly cutting edge flagship one. At that price it should be ahead of the competition, not catching up with it.

I think Apple is definitely on the downfall....Jobs was absolutely critical to that company. We were looking at the iPhone debut at work and the first thing everyone in the office pointed out was how stupid that camera bridge was. You'll have to strain your eyes every time you want to look at the time because it's so much smaller now and it was already tiny before. Apple seemed to be playing up the fact that the phone is now just one big screen but I immediately thought Samsung has already made a one screen phone....like 3 years ago...nobody was asking for or cares about this. They were also playing up the fact that the phone is now water proof and has shatter resistant screens...all shit Samsung has already done so who gives a fuck? Like there was absolutely nothing they presented that wasn't already done by them or another competitor and yet they're charging 1G for this shit. Apple used to get away with charging crazy prices in the past when they were the leader in technology...nowadays, it's like a slap in the face.

Meanwhile Samsung is coming out with bendable/foldable phones. I don't like Samsung because they always seems to have security issues on their products and the specs always are better than the actual product they produce....but I would say they are the innovative tech company for the time being. Apple has fallen off.

A couple of years ago we reached a point in the smart phone market where they all meet our main requirements. Now they all just bolt on gimmicks to make the new models seem different enough for people to go out and buy.
The iPhone X looks cumbersome as fuck. Weird aspect ratio. Stupid camera bump. Notch thing at the top. Awkward FaceID. All for ~$1800 AUD. Fuck that.
And the iPhone 8 is basically an iPhone 7 with a glass back and faster processor. And the iPhone 7 is just an iPhone 6S with faster processor, better camera, no headphone jack and different colours.
I jumped out of the cycle a year or so back by picking up the iPhone SE. Best phone I've ever owned.

Yeah we've reached a point where all the flagship phones from each company are practically identical, it just comes down to whether you want iOS or Android. You read screen or camera benchmarks nowadays and they practically just say "everything's fucking great" because innovation has slowed elsewhere in the market so its pretty much an even playing field, and its hard for Apple to leapfrog ahead in many areas now because company's like Samsung have a monopoly on OLED manufacturing so they can always introducing the most cutting edge stuff on their own phones (which they did in the Galaxy S8).
I'm glad Apple is finally introduced Wireless charging though, something I've literally been using for 5 years in other phones, because it'll push more public places to integrate charging into tables.

The only reedeaming quality Apple has at this point is iOS. iOS just works. Period. While Windows has automatic updates that can take hours with no way to delay them and a whole plethora of other stupid shit.

I haven't used an iPhone in years, but do you still have to install an app just to change the ringtone?

My Samsung "Smart" TV no longer supports Flash...is there any way to fix this? Did it before? What made it stop? Yes, it did before! I don't really know what made it stop; it was just gone one day, asking me to download and install Flash when I tried to stream some video on a site that had worked with no problems before (and I've tried it on other sites too...asking me to install Flash on there too).

Did you recently update the firmware of the TV?

Most streaming sites should be using HTML5 nowadays, Adobe is stopping Flash support soon and killing it off, there are too many security holes and it's a resource hog. Seems a bit shitty to remove support from your TV though while some sites still require it.

I always wait to download these updates to hear others experiences because you never know. Sometimes they fuck your shit up and other times they're great!

Can you disable the suggested videos that pop-up on-screen at the end of YouTube videos? It's a bunch of cockery when they cover half the video before it's over.

People paying £800 for the new iphone are nuts, android does the same for 1/4 of the price.

If you're using the app, you can turn off recommended videos in the settings. If you're on a desktop, I'm not sure. might try turn off annotations.

Anyone else getting this message on their Facebook news feed? It was only happening for a specific post in my feed, it's ok now, i wasn't blocked by that person, must have been a technical glitch.
