I thought that was awesome, I don't know what people expected from a small show like that, 2 and a half hour set? Pyros? That's why I thought it was good, like watching an old fan can movie but live!

Maybe it's just me but I wasn't at all moved by that gig. I didn't particularly care about the songs they were playing etc.
And everyone seems to be raving about how awesome it was, but to me it was the gig where you couldn't hear James' guitar, Kirk was horribly out of tune in Fade and James struggled vocally.
But of course, you know you can always count on me to be a ray of sunshine.

Oh, they played Hit The Lights too, but we missed it.

Yeah, Kirk was Kirk, and Het's guitar was low in the mix, but the energy was great, because they were clearly having a ball. And that performance of Creeping Death was so good. This is little show is a buyer for me. I haven't bothered with LiveMet shows since 2013, coz they've all been meh, but this one was a great little celebration of the re-releases. You're just being a grumpy old man Jaysee. (Normally that's me)

I'm right in that Kill/Ride vibe at the moment.
Great energy around these re-releases and this show.
I get more excited and emotionally invested in this stuff than I do new album news or hype.

Kirk's playing sounded like it was straight out of a shreds video, but James did sound good.

Just watching now.
James' vocals on Ride are awesome, my fav part so far is "WAIT for the sign to flip the switch of death" it's awesome gritty high and then deep and evil as fuck. Het's the man.

I just watched the gig on Facebook. Kirk (and pretty much the whole band) sounded so goddamn awful during "Helpless" that I almost stopped watching. He got better later on, though. Nice setlist. OK gig.

What was the final setlist, only Kill & Ride tracks?
I listened only little of 'The Four Horsemen' and 'Ride The Lightning', but is Kirk always that notgood these days?

I thought the whole damn thing was fun. And I thought Kirk was fine. But I also don't watch the shows with the solo tabs laid out in front of me, pushing my glasses up and going, "He didn't hit that E in time" while I sniffle.

To be fair, Kirk played "Fade to Black" pretty darn well.

Anyone know what the fella in the crowd shouted out when Het replied with 'I did? Don't tell anyone - sounds like it could have been someone he hung out with 30 years ago telling an old memory or something. Seems like there was lots of friends and people from back in the day there

I don't get what his problem is. No reason to be snippy with people. He's got an easy job. I'm with jaysee, I think it's the transition from cool, fun, metbb (rip) SpiderDan to corporate, stale, vexed and jaded, MetClubDan that's done it. I completely understand getting snippy with some of the, uhhh, weirder folks over on the "Official Boards" but not us coooooooool people, the ones he knows and (really ought to) loves!

Even if it has become "corporate, stale, vexed and jaded" it's still a killer job. I'm not trying to argue or anything; I just don't get it! If he's unhappy, I'll gladly take his position!!

No, no, I do agree with you! Unless he sees and has to deal with a lot more (and worse stuff) than we get to see (on the forums and presumably the other things) he does appear to be of quite a moody disposition. GLAD to report that you folks are all great and beautiful and I am glad to mod here. /Bartman gives back (tho I appreciate there are like 17 mods for every non-mod and most of you were invited here because you're Good People but shhhhhhhhhh!)

I think Corporate Dan needs to turn face and become the People's Dan

My main issue with Kirk is that in every single gig that's been streamed over the last 3 years, there is a portion of the show where his guitar is completely out of tune.
The fact we hear it happen on every stream, leads me to logically believe it happens at every fucking show, and it's pitch altered in LiveMetallica recordings.
I just don't understand how this is possible for a band like Metallica.

So apparently, after the gig, there was a Metallica hosted after party at the old "mansion" in El Cerrito where James and Lars wrote Kill, Ride and Puppets while living together.
All the people from the old days were there. Really cool.

I was wondering about that after Kirk's social media posts about the house party. Was Ross Halfin there? His diary posts always give good tidbits about Metallica parties......like Kirk falling over drunk, putting his arm around Ross and telling him he loves him. Hetfield sat there 'bemused by it all'. That was from about 3-4 years ago I haven't read his diary for a while actually

OK gig. That actually wasn't part of the official setlist. Lars started the beat, Kirk joined in as did James. If you notice Rob looks confused as he didn't know the song (James even makes reference to this later in the set). It was an off-the-cuff jam that turned into a stab at the song. The gig should have started right with Lights.

Anyone know the story? Did they buy the house? No idea. Hopefully there is a decent write up on the website coming. Pretty cool to see the couch/room that's featured on the back/sleeve of Puppets (it's been ages since I actually looked at the album so I could be wrong) some 30 years later.
