I forgot about this completely. Weren't they redoing NEM for that? It'll be interesting to see if Miley's NEM, the Elton thing, and the Disney thing are all actually the same song. I think the Miley thing is her own deal. Good chance the Elton thing is the re-working of NEM. I hope it's not the same. I can't stand another pop musician doing collaboration with them. Good job you're not forced to listen to it (whatever "it" is) then....... Yeah, I don't like pop singing. It's my opinion. Only thing I liked from Miley was her Jolene cover.

Called something like Story behind the Song ?
I spotto'd this on Foxtel a night or 2 ago, couldnt tell you what channel but there is a couple of SBS channels on there. Missed the first couple of minutes but hit REC, yet to check it out.
Any good?

It was ok but the three songs they chose to focus on were Sandman, One and St Anger. Why the fuck would they focus on one of their worst songs when they have so many other good songs.

Isn't St. Anger sneakily one of their most popular songs pretty much everywhere but America?

Isn't St. Anger sneakily one of their most popular songs pretty much everywhere but America? It's definitely popular in Germany since it popped up on the By Request setlist in 2014. I doubt that with all the masses of people voting for Sandman, One and Puppets it would make it to the setlist without popular support.

It's not a coincidence St. Anger was everywhere on that tour.

The irony of St. Anger, is it's notoriety for being the one particularly shitty Metallica album, still gives it attention and intrigue for that reason. A revealing documentary around it helped also, for better and worse.

If they did a show of the Lulu material, with James on main vocals, would you be interested? Was it just Reed that ruined it for you? I think it'd be cool hear a few tunes at a gig here or there.

I'd be interested in hearing that, yeah. I quite like Lulu so would be cool to hear a different take on it.

Yes Please.
They should record 4 versions, each member doing Lou's parts. Release them like the KISS solo albums.
(I'm joking, but one with James doing all would be interesting for sure)

Does anybody know how to get that acoustic sound in Fade? I mean it doesn't sound like any other acoustic song I've listened. It sounds like it's playing in a place with escalator to heaven.

It's a 12 string acoustic panned hard left and right to get a really spacey, airy sound. It's essentially impossible for one person to emulate playing without some studio magic and doubling.

Remember when Metallica invited the original members of Diamond Head onto the stage in Birmingham, two of which they picked up from their workplaces just so Lars could speed up two Diamond Head songs? I don't, I wasn't alive yet.

That was cringe, I had this on audio bootleg many many many years ago, also had the original singer doing So What. Never saw the video. That clothes, the hair, oh my.

This series, Life on the Road, is really great. For anyone not up to speed, Brian Johnson visits other musos and talks road stories, the early days, etc. Nick Mason show was a good one with a cool look at his car collection. Dave grohl one is up on YT now. They dont seem to last long on there so you cant just queue up the shows and binge but worth looking out for as they pop up.

According to Kirk's IG, the guys are working at HQ.
My gut feeling tells me that these times of restrictions due to covid have made the band focus more and make the most of their time together in the same room -- like back in the day when they booked a studio for a limited amount of time and hadt to nail everything within that period, no messing around, no chances to take much time.

2 years in quarantine...Volturous part 2 and Dead Kennedy Roll quarantine edition.
I really hope they put out something great, but more importantly, I hope they are having fun doing it. A few new tunes and a couple of covers would satisfy me for the times we are in. I don't expect much from these sessions, it's more of a "what else can we do right now" I just hope they are into it 100% whatever it is. If they are, it'll show.

It's cool to see they're together again but hopefully it's not another pre-recorded video of them playing Sad But True for an event or something

Yeah I agree, they ought to play Fixxxer for an event instead.
