Now that I listen again it's not AS slow as I thought. It's fast enough where I'd never notice in person if I was having a good time. As opposed to those mid 90s Whiplashes like this. That's about album tempo, yeah? Oh Jesus it is. |

EDIT 2: If you skip through the COVID vaccine skepticism, they start talking about pig hunting and Het mentions he's in California at the moment recording. Mentions how growing up with Christian Science parents he never had vaccines as a kid, and the only vaccines he's had were the ones he needed to go to Africa a few years back. I think he's hesitant on the COVID one, hopes they won't make the COVID stamp in your passport a requirement of travel, but if he does he'll consider it. Sounds like he's skeptical of vaccines in general, but isn't all out anti-vax. Then all the hunting talk continues which is weird to hear as well. Talking about trying to shoot an arrow ito kill a 3 year old Elk but he missed and only took a chunk out of it's back instead and it survived for a couple of years and was nicknamed the Papa Het. Or how the whole community shake hands and congratulate a guy for killing an animal that everyone in the community recognises …like a deer was some sort of threat to their community and this brave guy killed it to save everyone, but nah not really its just for fun. Just not exposed to that whole American hunting culture much down here in Melbourne. I actually thought the gun guys / hunters interviewing Het would have been all out in their support for his vaccine skepticism, just because in my mind I associate anti-vax with right wing crazies, and I associate American hunter / gun guys as right wing conservative blokes too, but was interesting to hear the interviewers talk about how hunters are no strangers to vaccines with all the travelling out to ranges and hunting grounds they do. Was an interesting insight I've never thought much about. |

I'm really hoping as James gets older he doesn't slowly devolve into a loud right winger. I already disagree with him a good bit on a lot of politics but I force myself not to think about it too hard. lol he's been this way for his whole life. only in early 20s, he looked kinda left-y. Heck, he even wrote a song called "Don't Tread On Me". Even though he doesn't wanna get remembered with political ideas and doesn't want to involve his music with his politics, he for one time did and every other opinion of him points to that "classic right winger dad" type. |

Plus he said many times during interviews that they don't discuss politics within the band because they are all pretty opposite (I assume that Kirk and Lars are fairly lefty). I think that he doesn't want and probably never will express his political stances publicly because he values privacy and peace of mind.

He might have conservative views on things, but they seem very tame compared to the people you always hear about. But if you read his lyrics, especially from the Justice album (I know viewpoints change), that's very critical of government and religion during the Reagan administration, so take that what you will. I can usually separate the artist from their personal views, most of the time. As much as Ted Nugent's viewpoints are idiotic, he's a very fucking good guitar player and I enjoy his music. He's smart not to meld the two together though. |

I did, I posted a link in Random Thoughts thread. 
However there is bigger news about new Metallica music. Have a listen to the podcast that YEPSURE was talking about in the other thread and you will hear the band has over 10 songs coming together via Zoom (until that was no longer working for them)....but that is good news and it came from James, not Kirk or that dude from RockFeed YT.
