Finally got my AWMH t-shirt in the mail from the acoustic show. Quality is garbage, wtf? Feels very thin, wrinkled to hell from being tossed around the system for 2 months, and it seems too long for a medium, like if I put a belt over it, It would look like a short dress.
Oh well, hopefully it shrinks a bit.

It's ok now, washed it in cold water, hung to dry. The length still seems off, but it'll do. It glows in the dark a bit. The thin material will be good on those hot summer days I guess, I was just expecting your standard Metal shirt deal, not some cool trendy air breezy shit. Oh well, image is still sick.

Wow they played Battery in full for the first time in what...10 years? Vocals sounded great but they did play it pretty slow, takes some getting used to hearing it at that tempo
EDIT: They used the actual backdrop from the Puppets tour too, pretty cool

James sounded decent. Lars' timing was good, wonder if he was playing to a click. This is how they need to play live. Lars always gets ahead of himself, and then, can't really even play his rolls and double kick because it's too fast for him.

If this is the new Metallica sound I can get used to it. The slow tempos are a little plodding for the really fast songs but they sound so much more put together and tight.

James sounded stellar but yeah, the slower tempo for the faster songs doesn't quite sit right with me.

It's a whole lot better than them sounding like shit with Lars playing too fast. Also gives James more breathing room for vocals. They sound better this way at this point.

The good thing is that it's very likely they have been working in the studio: it would be pointless for them to just get together at HQ to tape a string of TV performances and not jam on new stuff considering: a) all the trouble it takes to swab the band and crew b) the zoom sessions don't seem to work for them (or any band for that matter) |

Relating to the above, this whole gig is tight as fuck. Definitely on the slow side, but in a very good way - listen to Lars on Sad But True being more on the beat than he's ever been on that song, for example. Mix is pretty good too so it's definitely one of my new favorites. I've heard it before plenty of times but I never really paid attention to just how solid it is overall.
