I tried thinking of a question yesterday, I'm blank, I have none :-/ There's still time to think, no worries. I figure the more random and non musical related the question is, the more likely it will get picked.

I wandered around the official Metallica website, and noticed that there were audio samples of all the songs under the album pages. I decided to check out Death Magnetic for some reason, and clicked on The Day That Never Comes. The audio sample there was MUCH better quality than the album version, with basically no clipping or unnecessary distortion. Also, I hear things I've never noticed before, like some faint background stuff.
What the hell is going on? WHY is there such a version available, but it's not on the album? I doubt they'd put the Guitar Hero or Moderus version on their website...

This guy has some good points, don't know if I fully agree with him, but interesting watch nonetheless.

"It's the only one people aren't tired of listening to."
I know that yep-sure would beg to differ. And honestly so would I. Master of Puppets, on the other hand, has never gotten old.
Only about 30 seconds into the video and so far it's kinda dumb. Don't assume that your personal opinion is something that everyone agrees with. He could say "It's the only one I'm not tired of listening to," and that would be fine and make sense, but he seems to assume that everybody feels this way which is just not true.

I watched the full video. It's not awful but it's not great either. Some points are well thought-out and presented, like I totally get that Fade's lyrics aren't particularly great and that they're definitely better on Sanitarium and One. That said, some of the points don't seem very relevant to me. It feels like he's judging Fade and Sanitarium based on how well they do what One does, even though Fade and Sanitarium aren't trying to do the exact same thing that One does. He criticizes the first two songs because their seconds halves don't have some sort of feeling of "crushing loneliness," as if that's the only acceptable way to end a song like that. Also, his point about the intro to Fade being too fast is just total nonsense. Why does it need to be super slow? It's not like Metallica were allergic to writing songs that take their time and let notes ring out; For Whom the Bell Tolls, the previous song on the same album, does that. They just had a different musical direction for Fade.
Basically this video feels like a guy who really loves One and is trying to justify his love for that song by taking apart the song that it's kind of a rehash of, but some of his points just aren't strong enough to effectively make that argument.

All good points, I agree. And for me personally, One, 95% of the time, is a song I can do without hearing anymore, where as I'll never get tired of Fade or Sanitarium. Though on TTN, with all the new animations, One was crazy awesome to hear again.

That whole shows is fucking boss. I remember staying up and taping it live off Radio 1. Still got my tapes.
Goddamn, as mental as it may be, I;ve never seen that in high quality. They have to buy the rights to the entire gig (presume it was all filmed) and release it as part of some sort of box set. YES.
