It'll be really weird, if nothing tragic happens, when James will be like 80 or something. Like how you see the Sinatras and Cashes going on and on. We probably won't even notice the aging until we look backwards in time.

It's pretty insane, I'm definitely enjoying Metallica as much as I can while they are still going. We've also been fortunate to have a very stable line up as far as bands go. I always think this. How many members have quit or been fired from the band ? I'm only counting since they were signed so Mustaine doesn't count. Cliff died so he doesn't count either. Jason quit. that's it. One person in nearly 35 years ? Now, how many people have quit or been sacked from Megadeth ? Like over 15 ? I guess Lars isn't that hard to get along with but Mustaine ?

It's funny you mention getting along, because I usually also realize in this discussion that of the Big 4, Slayer is also extremely stable

Slayer has been mostly Tom and Kerry and Jeff hasn't it ? With Bostaph and Lombardo rotating the drum throne. Have they ever had a third drummer ?

Jon Dette has played live for them in and out over the years. Not sure if he was an official band member at any time, though. I remember reading that he was with them when they started recording Diabolus, but was replaced by Bostaph pretty early on.

Pretty sure that's right yea, those three and two drummers. Then obviously with Jeff gone they "had" to fill his spot.

The intro for Unnamed Feeling I'd one of my favorite Metallica moments.

In regards to St Anger, at what point was the collective decision made to tune down so low? I feel that such low tuning is bad for your mental health. Its drags you down and bums you out, for me at least. If I tune down that low, I start to feel depressed and sluggish, a big downer, and it shows on the band during that period and album.

Surely you're aware that there were a lot of things going on in their lives at the time that caused them to seem really down. The heavy downtuned guitars reflect the way they were feeling; they definitely weren't sad because they had their guitars downtuned. That's ridiculous.

Just watched the video for TDTNC, today, it just felt awesome, so much tension. The slight slow motion combined with the ultra fast riffing just works and sets a great tone.

What if Metallica wasn't named Metallica but Slayer? You'd have to admit you like Slayer

There are a few rules that are applicable no matter what in any possible universe, and one of those rules is that Slayer always sucks. So if in another universe a band called Slayer puts out Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets that band will still suck because they're Slayer.

"Can't tell if this is true or dream" INDEED!
Stuff like this Brioni thing makes no difference to me, to the music I love or the music that is coming.
But if I had a chance to vote on whether Metallica lends itself and the music to highend suits and fucking catwalks, I would vote "Fuck no James"

It's silly! This whole Brioni thing just came out of no where and has over stayed it's welcome with me. It's just good for the comedic value.

Ah thanks. What a horrible fit The first video is the intro solo part after the drums kick in and the second video is the first verse.

They look super silly, I can't imagine even some Metallica music would save that
