After watching the Record Store video, Lars is actually improving. James is still great, his voice is improving, and Rob is flawless as usual. Kirk though, jesus. Full show first song, Kirk plays the solo like a 12 year old with 3 weeks guitar experience, who kind of knows how it's supposed to go... Jesus wept Finally got around to see some of this, why the hell is James still singing Horsemen with that horrible KEA voice. Just sing it "normally" without the high screeches

Agreed, I would much rather he go into a deep growl then sing all high and screetchy at those parts. He does hit the notes for the most part, but it just sounds awkward and silly.
I would love to see a NO FUN involved Metallica show, just to see how well they can still play when the are focussed on the music rather then putting on a fun show at the same time. No constipated looks from Kirk while soloing, if he opened his eyes and looked at the fretboard he might actually be in the right fret most of the time. Lars needs a seatbelt on His stool to keep him from jumping around and stuff. James needs less happy smiles and more "I'm going to kill you and your family" anger projected in his performance. Rob is fine.
I would love to see an ultra serious show like this just to see how well they'd play without the circus act being a priority.

I wouldn't. That sounds really stupid and pointless.

Yeah, James was great for the most part. RTL was spot on and gave me shivers at a few spots. I'm dying to hear what kind of delivery he gives on the new album, hopefully its not in the same line as hate train. I dig that song, in just not to into his high notes these days

I thought his vocals on Dm was pretty great, it just needed better production, double tracking and some harmonies

Heard NEM on the radio the other day for the billionth time, only this time I sat through it, not that I don't like it, but when they're like we got "Metallica coming up on your drive at five" and then after some rocking tune the intro to NEM starts it's always a buzz kill. Anyways, that fucking kick drum sounds so good on the airwaves. No kick drum is as good, it really sticks out on NEM since its such a calm song. But it sounds especially awesome over the airwaves. That's it, that's my thought.

Their over played songs get a lot of flak they don't deserve. It isn't their fault they are so good people still want to hear them 30 years later.

I hate when people start going on about how bad and overplayed those TBA songs are, they are overplayed because they are so damn good, not because they are bad. Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ I love Sandman as much as I did when I bought the 7" picture disc single back in July 1991 (yeah, I looked up the date). So I have no problem hearing the classics.

I love Sandman as much as I did when I first heard it - i.e., not bad, but nothing special.

Haven't watched this in ages, gave it a go just earlier, fucking awesome. Its like a glimpse into an alternate reality where James went solo. So much potential.

That's it, that's my thought. TBA kickdrum is the best sounding kick ever imo. It's awesome that they still play NEM live cuz it's the perfect pee-break song. That's my random metallica thought.

Is there any source for this? The only place I've seen it said is on forums and comment sections.

You really don't like that song live I gotta say even though I don't like it that much live anymore either, it's always a spectacle when you are there, so I don't mind it.
