Shadows Follow is really cool live. The part towards the end, where James shouts "I say NO!" and the playing stops for a second... Fan-fuckin-tastic. That was the part, on my first listen at release, that made me shoot my wad. Instant loveš

Glastonbury starts this week, do you guys remember this nonsense from Metallica?

I remember that show being a highlight in the recent years given that they had to shut up a bunch of whining hippies and played better and with more fire than they did for a long time.

Yes, and the ending of Roam stands out in my mind of being the first time in many, many, many years where Roam got me grinning from ear to ear again. Those double bass drums at the end really stood out in the mix and hammered hard.

The whole site? Like the metstore and all that? š„ŗ Could our info be compromised? Imagine the hackers sent everyone a free Load boxset or pinball machine.

Jamming S&M2 this morning. For all of the issues surrounding it, the new songs on it are great. TDTNC and Moth have orchestral sections that have worked their way into my head the same way parts of the original S&M arrangements have.
Itās weird that because of Covid and the long gap in touring, 9/8/19 became the end of the second or third big āeraā of Metallica, that Iād say started with Rob joining the band. After that, sets reduced to 16 (now 15), instrumentals are way more common in the set, and intro tapes developed way more. And their touring has halved from 2017-19, which already halved 2008-2010ās number of shows.

intro tapes developed way more I havent watched any full shows recently, but from looking at most clips on YouTube is it fair to say the majority of songs in the set have intro tapes now?

Ā intro tapes developed way more I havent watched any full shows recently, but from looking at most clips on YouTube is it fair to say the majority of songs in the set have intro tapes now? I believe right now itās slot 5 (Lux/72), slot 7 (Fade/Sanitarium/Day), slot 9 (Orion/Ktulu), slot 12 (Hardwired/Battery/Blackened/Fight/Lux), and NEM and One wherever they fall. So if you count Ecstasy for the opener, itās about half. Honestly for MetLife the whole show felt very choppy besides the beginning, which felt like āahh, the boys are doing their thingā both times. The end also has the same type of run, but by the end of the show you kind of know whatās coming so it has a different energy.

For Munich it was: Night 1 = 4/16 Lux / Orion / TDTNC / Hardwired Night 2 = 6/16 72S / Ktulu / Clover / Roam / Fight / One Worth pointing out, though, the "tapes" for Hardwired/Clover/Roam/Fight/One are the intro music or effects that they've always done so if you factor in "new" intros then it becomes: Night 1 = 3/16 Lux / Orion / TDTNC Night 2 = 2/16 72S / Ktulu

TFG is pretty sloppy live imo
I like the different outro and Kirk soloing over the last chorus though.

It just doesn't work too well vocally live IMO, not a fan. Same with songs like God and Holier, which people seem to still love live but the vocals are just way off...that high, clean register just isn't Hets strongest area.

Agreed, itās not a good live song and the crowd didnāt really respond to it, in Copenhagen at least.
Which newer songs can get the crowd pumped I wonder.
Iāve seen 4 shows from this tour and besides Burn it seemed like all the 72 songs fell flat. Maybe Lux does okay.
From Hardwired Moth became an instant crowd pleaser, but other than that ? Hardwired maybe.
Any other ?

Opening with Hardwired gets it instant love just because of the adrenaline shooting through your veins of "holy shit it's Metallica!" But I still love that one, glad I got to see on this tour as well.

Will they ever play a Death Magnetic song again that's not Day or Cyanide? End of the Line at the anniversary show seems to have been a one-off.
