His version of Sandman uses the wrong toms for the intro so he's dead to me now.

I saw this vid pop up a few times before I saw it here, but coz Kimbo took the time to poat the link I decided to have a look. I had ignored it thinking it would be crap but wasn't I wrong. That kid pulled out a pretty decent version of the justice solo there. And the first medley bit isn't too different to what I do sitting on the lounge with an acoustic. Wish I was doing that when I was 10 though

I'm so conflicted.
Firstly, fuck you Metallica for taking advantage of your loyal die hard fans for profit. You guys were always better than this.
On the other hand, I could actually meet and hang out with Metallica now if I'm willing to pay them huge sums of money (assuming they do this for the whole tour).

Urgh. I was hoping they wouldn't do this. If I'm going to pay an obscene amount of money for all this I will start to have issue if all the band members are not there. Which stated above seems like it might not be everyone all the time. James will probably never be there.
I hate shit like this to be honest.
Not that I would ever pay for something like that though, but other people will.

I don't see what's wrong with offering specials like that, and how it's "taking advantage" of anyone. Nobody's forcing anyone to buy those. That's just a really cool thing to do for someone who has the money, truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. I'm telling ya, if I had a shitload of money lying around, I'd take that Hardwired package in a heartbeat.

Hmmmm I'm a tad disappointed to see this type of offer from Metallica. But as has been said previously - this is shit for those that can afford it. Presume that the meet and greet options via MetClub will still be going.
Perhaps this is just a one off? Notice that the link for the packages takes you outside of Metallica's website.
Dunno. Shame.

Even worse, only a few 100 og so tix were available for pre sale so frustrated members turned to the expensive ones in order to be sure they got tix at all... Pretty clever, and distusting

That's just a really cool thing to do for someone who has the money, truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. I'm telling ya, if I had a shitload of money lying around, I'd take that Hardwired package in a heartbeat. Allow me to explain as best as I can. People worship these guys, and have done for decades. A simple way to make money is to charge a ridiculous fee to allow these people a few minutes with their heroes. They know these fans will pay anything for a chance to shake their hand. The phrase, "it's like taking candy from a baby" as apt here. It's exactly the same way and mentality ticket scalpers make money. They buy a shitload of tickets, and sell them for huge amounts of money because they know people will pay anything to see their favourite band. It's disgusting behaviour and now Metallica are actively engaging in it too. That makes me sad. You have a band that has always been about giving fans value, not ripping them off, and treating them pretty fucking good. It's why MetClub wasn't all that expensive and it's why THEY ran MetClub not some other organisation. This is part of the reason why people connect with this band and look up to them as human beings, because they have, most of the time, come across as down to earth, decent human beings who love music, just like all of us. I don't want to participate out of the principal behind it, but I probably will because I'm one of those idiots that worship these guys and will most likely pay their stupid asking price to take a photo with them and interact with them for a few seconds. And that pisses me off too. Then you have the division it creates in the fanbase "Metallica Family". You might have your die hard fan, who's loved these guys for 30 years, who can't afford a VIP ticket watching all these affluent narcissistic Enter Sandman/Nothing Else Matters casuals meeting the band so they can post the photos on their Instagram account and get likes. You point out "it's truly a once in a lifetime experience", I disagree. That was an appropriate way to describe winning a Meet and Greet. Now anyone can do it at (potentially) any Metallica show they want as long as they cough up the coin. It's no longer special. Meeting our heroes is no longer a once in a lifetime experience, it's a commodity available on the market for purchase.
