What do you guys think about that? I think they were married. Seems like it changes pretty much nothing if they weren't. He's still a Snow and half Stark. Dany could legitimize him I suppose, but why would she do that? He would be first in line to the throne if she did, the only reason I see for her doing that is if she were to marry him, and that just seems a bit too storybook of an ending to me. Am I wrong on this? Dunno, I've always thought they would hook up somewhere down the line, and Jon would ride one of her dragons

If they marry it won't exactly be a fairytale marriage. There isn't enough time left to establish a loving relationship, it'll be one of convenience to -- as Dany put it -- forge an alliance. And even if they end up loving each other by the end; it's Game of Thrones, it's not going to end pulling back on them kissing on a Kings Landing balcony in the sunset, one of them will probably die. I believe Martin has described what happens at the end as "bittersweet", so I assume whatever success there is it comes at a great cost.

You know what else is bittersweet? Dying before finishing the story.

The sweet part comes in that at least the show exists so we know the ending.
I hope he lives to finish it, he met with his editors apparently so people who know about these type of things are speculating that Winds of Winter is almost finished. Then he just has to live long enough to finish one more book...there is some hope, he's only 67, he could live for a while yet, really. But if not, at least there is the show's ending as opposed to nothing.

Good lord who thought that set up was a good idea? Just a big cluttered mess.

It would be good if it were an interactive thing where you could highlight and hide some of the lines.

Did anyone else find Jon Snows death pointless? They made such a big deal of him dying only to come back as exactly the same person. It would have been cooler if he came back as a zombie Jon Snow like Caitlyn Stark in the books.

So close I can taste it!!! And is that Davos wielding a flaming sword? I read something a long time ago that said he was Azor Ahai that I brushed off as rubbish (I mean it has to be Jon or Dani right?) but now I wonder....

I think the one you're talking about would be Beric Dondarrion.

I think the one you're talking about would be Beric Dondarrion. I only vaguely remember him from the early books with Lady Stoneheart. He is the only person in Westeros besides Melisandre who can bring people back to life suggesting he comes from Asshai. I think he's resurrected himself innumerable times or something like that as well. I guess he could be the Lord of Light which I thought was the same as Azor Ahai accept for the Lord of Light is only talked about in stories from Asshai. I guess it would kinda make sense that Beric could be the Lord of Light since he's one of only 2 semi-main characters from Asshai but it still seems odd to place such an important title on a character that has been so minor thus far.

Beric is not from Asshai, he's a lord from the Stormlands. Also he doesn't resurrect himself, he's brought back to life by Thoros of Myr, who's a red priest like Melisandre, though it's not said he's been to Asshai. I believe not all red priests have been there. I watched the trailer again and yes, it's Beric.
To clarify, the Lord of light is one of the two deities of the religion of the red priests, so he wouldn't be a person. You must be thinking of the whole Azor Ahai thing.
I read the books last year so all that is still fresh.

I read the books about 8 years ago so things are a little more vague for me. I knew Beric had died alot and he had something to do with Lady Stonehearts resurrection but that's about it. So is Azor Ahai and the prince that was promised the same? I think the prince that was promised originates in Asshai, isn't that who Melisandre thought Stannis was? Or do I have it backwards and the prince that was promised is from Westeros and Azor Ahai from Asshai? Either way, it's very strange that such a minor character like Beric would have anything to do with either!

The myth of the Last Hero is from Westeros. The prophecy of the prince that was promised is from Valyria, and Azor Ahai is basically the far east's version of the Westerosi Last Hero, basically a dude who ended the Long Night, though the two myths are quite different. I think Melisandre sees both the prince and Azor Ahai in Stannis, but that's just her. Anyway I think the whole prophecy thing is a bit bullshitty, in that I expect it won't actually matter. What ever happens will kind of fit some of the general themes in those prophecies and myths but no more than that.
Also Beric isn't said to be any of those things, he's just some (un)lucky man who got resurrected a buch of times. I think he's mostly there so that Jon Snow's coming back to life doesn't feel like bullshit. In fact, in the books Beric can't be any sort of savior figure since he died his definitive death in book 3.

Good start to the season!
The Valyrian steel dagger that was used to try to kill Bran (S01E02) was in that book Sam was looking at. Why? It was Littlefinger's dagger, and he said he lost it in a bet to Tyrion.

Whether it's about Metallica YouTube videos, GoT season premieres, or Shakira wearing the same lingerie for the fourth night in-a-row. Nothing is ever good enough for Kimbo. You son of a bitch. Good start to the season but that Ed Sheeran cameo was terrible, could they at least be subtle about it ? It completely took me out of the show. All I know is they better start off the next episode with Arya slowly walking away from his burned and charred body to make up for it. I also found that mention of the man bun (why are there man buns in Westeros anyway) pretty cheesy as well.
