Well. Looks like I was wrong. Fair play.
Still a fucking terrible idea.

I don't really think it's a terrible idea since the dates are already scheduled, and I'm guessing they have a commitment. I'm assuming plenty of people would ask for refunds if it was some random, no-name guy. Plus, I think it's only to finish the 10 postponed dates, so it's not really a big deal.
Now, whether or not Axl behaves remains to be seen. I guess we'll find out.

It's the principle of the matter. Who cares if it's 10 dates? Cancel them. AC/DC are rich as fuck and old as fuck. Quit when it's time. Imagine if Het had to quit and they went on without him, and brought in Mustaine or something for their final shows. Bleh, just quit.

Fuck that, their band, they can do what they want with it. Exactly. Nothing wrong with honoring the remaining tour dates, so long as ticket holders know what to expect.

Every band has the freedom to make shitty decisions. Yes. I agree, it feels pretty dumb to me. But you didn't stop with, "This seems dumb." You went right on into, "I know what's best for this legendary band" mode. And yes, that's an actual mode, Google it.

And? The statement of 'it's their band, they can do what they want with it (whoa! really?)' is just as (particularly) inane.
You know what an opinion is, right?
"I know what's best for this legendary band"
Legendary bands are infallible. Worship them.

Still struggling to believe that Axl would even be considered for this.
Angus has lost his fucking mind!

Obviously I'm just some guy and AC/DC doesn't give a shit about my opinion, but if it were up to me they probably would have been done right after Rock or Bust was released, and definitely would have been done after Brian Johnson was put out of commission. Continuing on at this point, especially with a singer who's just not good at all, really feels in bad taste to me personally. People are like, "Hey, you never know, maybe Axl won't act up this time!" but that's bullshit. He's going to pull some shit because that asshole has to make everything about him, and both AC/DC and the other members of GNR are enabling him to continue that behavior.
Queen and Adam Lambert were brought up earlier. At least AL is young and healthy and is capable of carrying a several-hour rock concert without much of an issue, regardless of how much I personally dislike his singing, not to mention that he doesn't have a lengthy and well-documented history of being extremely difficult to work with. Again, they can do what they want, but I really thought AC/DC were above this kind of bullshit. I suppose it's not impossible for this to go off really smoothly and for everyone involved to have a good time, but I strongly doubt it.

Imagine if Het had to quit and they went on without him, and brought in Mustaine or something for their final shows. Bleh, just quit. I don't really see it the same way. Yeah, AC/DC is old as fuck, but they have 10 dates left. Just 10. All they need to do is finish them, and then they can hang them up. I don't see why they would just quit in the middle of the tour if they can get someone to help them through the last bit, and then they can just decide to retire if they want to. In their entire career, I don't really think an extra 10 dates with a different singer will harm them. On the flip side, I know people dislike Axl and his antics, but we'll have to see how that works out. If he ends up fucking everything up, then that's unfortunate.

This is going to be hilarious. I have tix for their show in Denmark, I was pretty about seeing them this time, but this actually makes it way more exiting. It's gonna be a train wreck of epic proportions

AXL/DC
This is going to be great entertainment no matter the outcome. Is there any GNR covers of AC/DC songs to get an idea of what to expect if all goes as planned.

GNR covered Whole Lotta Rose a bunch in the AFD era. Axl's GNR also covered that and Riff Raff occasionally. Here's an awesome version of Whole Lotta Rosie from 1987. And here's a more recent version.

That later version is not good. He's got no grit in his voice any more in the higher register. They may as well just get a woman in to sing cos that what Axl sounds like now. Age, cigarettes and general douchebaggery means his voice is just not what it was.

I showed a distaste for what they're doing as a fan and what I wish they'd do instead. Like people do about EVERYTHING 24/7. There is no 'what is best for them.' They hit career/financial plateau decades ago. It doesn't matter what they do.

I saw them at the start of their tour late last year and they put on a pretty great show. The one thing I thought was a bit odd was the pause between every song. Unusually long, often momentum-sapping long as if they regrouped around the drumkit in the dark to catch their breath, chat about what song to play next, what key its in and finally a count in. But its AC/DC, legends, a band that has proved itself to be a force over many many years, and so they kind of get a free pass on things like that, things that lesser bands would be criticised for. Malcolm wasn't up there and as my favourite member of the band I was fairly bummed out that someone was standing in his place, but there was some consolation in that it was still a Young wearing the Gretsch. So while they "got away" with this change of line-up, I think bringing someone controversial like fucking Axl is gonna be a very low point in the 40 year ride, maybe where fans really do question whether its worth bothering with anymore. AC/DC's roots are from working class Australia, and I always felt that even with all the wealth and fame, those roots were intact just under the surface. This decision in my opinion contradicts that, which makes it hard for me to believe its a possibility. And now its being spoken about on morning radio dammit! Whatever Angus is thinking to end up here I don't know, but I bet he regrets it soon enough.

If AC/DC chose Axl, they must think he's good enough. I'm curious to what it will sound like.

I still can't get past the fact that it's just him singing in a falsetto. I know, age, voice changes... but it just doesn't work for me. There's no grit no... balls , for lack of a better word.
I mean technically he was ok, in tune not too breathless but it just lacked something for me.
