I enjoyed most of the solos on DM, except TEOTL. I mean, really. They could have said it was a Kerry King guest spot on that song and I wouldnt know the difference. I still think he can write some good stuff, but some of these recent videos have been slightly cringe-worthy. He's still one of my favourite guitarists of all time though.

He's not a young gun anymore and the health issues he has may play a big role when guitar skills go down.

I assume he doesn't practice much anymore, like Lars. Along with his supposed, having the action too high to 'make it more challenging' nonsense.

Kirk was the man right up until the mid 90's I would say.
Watching and listening to the Kill/Ride reissues has reminded me just how great he used to be, not to mention his tone used to be so good up until 1996ish.

No one really said Kirk sucked until after St. Anger when the boys ditched his solos altogether. I'm surprised he didn't walk tbh.

5.33 He probably haven't played that solo since 2012 so I'd very much say he is excused.

When action is too high, sure it's more challenging but also very unpleasant... takes the fun out of playing.

What, the string height or my rig? Rig/Guitars/Pedals? How do you get your 'Metallica crunch'.

Just wondered because i'm thinking about getting a new rig. I'm plugging my Warlock straight into a Line 6 Spider III atm (it's not bad for £200 lol), can you recommend anything?
