After some more listens the album is growing on me a bit. Once you get over the fact that a lot of the parts sound like they are straight out of other songs it's quite enjoyable. I think I would have enjoyed the album more on the whole if I hadn't already heard the title track and the live versions of Invincible and Descending. 7empest and Pneuma were fantastic but the album just felt a bit lacking with them being the only fresh exciting tracks after a first listen all the way through. Culling Voices doesn't do anything for me and the filler interlude tracks are just unnecessary. I think if I come back to this album some time in the future and listen to it with fresh ears I would love it.

Culling Voices is probably the weakest main track, yet I wouldn't call it bad either. Album keeps getting better with every listen. And I would tell people, don't listen to it too hard. I mean, I listen to all kinds of non catchy, non super hooky music. Tool made that kind of record, still with choruses, just really spread out. I was well prepared for an album from Tool like this for many years. And I'm glad they did this.

Still a boring, repetitive, and rehashed mess to me.

i see, i'll keep that in mind, thanks! They don't add anything to the album maybe with the exception of CCtrip for those who enjoy percussion and drums. It is a stellar album otherwise. And ith as amazing production quality. If anyone is interested in the legal disputes behind the new album...and why it took so long. globalnews.ca/news/5824635/tool-fear-inoculum-2019-alan-cross/

Well I quite like it... It's... Not for everyone, like every other Tool album, and there's not many straight up rock songs. But there's some cool shit, I like to zone out to it. Again Danny steals the show.

Its terrible that legal disputes can have such a negative effect on the ability to be creative and then releasing the result. You often would not be able to get that back. You may win, you may walk away with some monetary gain but whats been lost?

So, another concert story. My mates story this time. He's just returned from a short trip over to the next state to go see Tool. Tool decided not to visit our city (we get that sometimes with bands skipping over us, but its better than it used to be)
He's telling me that Maynard is pumping the crowd up by getting them to cheer and getting more volume out of the crowd by asking them to be louder than the previous city's crowd - you know how it goes. Anyway, Maynard asks them to get louder than our city, the one his band left off the tour schedule. Mate reckons he was mocking the situation which pissed my buddy off enough to say it ruined the show for him. He's a big fan and he's just spent a chunk of money and time getting over there to see the show, taking time off work, etc. The band would know that a good number of people in the crowd were likely from here. They added a 2nd show to assist with the extra demand and it is a common thing for us peeps to travel over there to catch big acts.
Tool have gotten a little lost up their own backsides me thinks. The last album thing pissed me off. Wait fucking years for it and then wanna charge $300 for a physical copy?.... fuck your new music

VIP Minneapolis Bitches!!!! 🥳 Good for you! What exactly does that get? Front row ticket, early entrance to merch booth with 10 percent discount, autographed item, t shirt, goodie bag, some other in Venue Amenities. Used to get soundcheck and q and a with the band but with covid don't know if that is happening this round.

I keep coming back to Fear Inoculum. What an album!
Title song, Pneuma, 7empest, Invincible and Descending are all brilliant songs.
