This album is out next month. The first two songs released so far are fantastic.
I'm really excited for this album.
Anyone else a fan?

The first Book of Shadows is the best thing Zakk has ever done. So far, II is sounding like a worthy follow up.

The first Book of Shadows is the best thing Zakk has ever done. Yep. One of my favourite albums for sure. The first half in particular is amazing (tracks 3-5 especially, if I had to be even more specific). Zakk + acoustic guitar + piano = great music. Enjoy the new song a lot. Really looking forward to this album. Got my ticket and hotel booked for the show in London in May. I've been waiting for years for Zakk to do a show like this over here. Pride & Glory followed by Hangover Music will be the soundtrack on my journey to work this morning.

A third new song has been released called "Tears of December". Can't find a youtube link to the studio version but it's on Spotify and probably iTunes and the like. It's another good 'un and the solo is boss. Only two weeks to go now!

Im Not too familiar with Zack's stuff after Ozzy, but at what point did he change from a pretty boy with long silky hair and his black and white, spiral guitars, into this big, gruffy mean looking guy?

I've only listened once so far, so I want to spin it a few more times to fully form an opinion, but my first impression is that it's pretty good but not as good as the first. It seems like a lot of the songs on BoSII had a similar feel to each other, whereas on BoS there was a wider range of emotion. Some songs were happier/light-hearted and others were more sad/somber. That's the best way I can think to describe it. But anyway, I was working when I listened to it the first time, so i'm pretty sure I missed a good chunk of it because I was distracted. I'll be listening again tomorrow and perhaps my opinion will change.

They're all downbeat/sombre sort of songs, nothing more upbeat (musically at least) like "What You're Look'n For" or "The Things You Do". Still a great album mind. Lead playing is fantastic.

I've had a few listens now, and I agree. It's not a dynamic album, it's all one mood.
It's good, but not as good as the first.

My version came with three bonus tracks (I don't know if all versions do or not). Alternative versions of "Lost Prayer" and "Tears of December" (both piano based instead of acoustic, no guitar solos) and "Sleeping Dogs" with Corey Tayor doing some guest vocals (he sounds pretty good, I've got to say). Can't say any of them are truly essential listening but could be worth checking out if you're curious.

Bought this one. No bonus tracks though. The only one of those I could find online is the one with Corey Taylor.

I bought it on iTunes and there was no option with bonus tracks that I could see. I'll have to track those down.

I'll look into helping anyone 'acquire' these tracks so to speak. Will have to be after work though.
Currently got the album on again and it really is good. Love the solos.

Another observation of this album - it's much more vocal driven than guitar driven.
Most of the hooks are vocal ones, there're no real iconic guitar riffs/melodies like "Sold My Soul". It's very much a strum and sing - with some amazing lead work of course.

Just saw Zakk's solo show in London. Good stuff. It was BoS stuff only, so no BLS or P&G songs. New songs sounded great, pretty much all my favourites from the new album were played. The old stuff was the best though. We got the first five tracks (aka one of the best song sequences on an album ever) and "Dead as Yesterday". A big downside was a good 20-25 minutes of set time was Zakk soloing/shredding (and I thought the 8 minute solo at the BLS I saw was bad!) The novelty wore off pretty quickly. Could've played another few songs with that time. Setlist: Autumn Changes Tears of December Lay Me Down Road Back Home Sold My Soul Yesterday's Tears Between Heaven and Hell Darkest Hour Throwin' It All Away Dead As Yesterday Eyes of Burden Way Beyond Empty The King Lost Prayer Sleeping Dogs
