Saw them in Cardiff last night. Apart from a muddy sound they were fucking phenomenal. I have no voice this morning and I need to give a presentation in 3 hours A good mix of old and new and the crowd was intense. Imperium Beautiful Mourning Now We Die Take My Scars Locust From This Day Ten Ton Hammer This Is the End Elegy The Blood, the Sweat, the Tears Guitar Solo Darkness Within Drum Solo Bulldozer Killers & Kings Davidian Encore: Descend the Shades of Night Now I Lay Thee Down Encore 2: Aesthetics of Hate Game Over Blood for Blood Encore 3: Halo What are your thoughts on MH?

First album is great. Everything since then has been pretty bad. The stuff post Through The Ashes Of Empires actually has potential but they ruin it with the metal-core melodies.

I generally like Machine Head, however, my main gripe is they have no real identity. They just bring out albums that sound like what is popular at the time. They currently seem to be a Trivium cover band, from what I have heard. And what the fuck was this Prick.

They just bring out albums that sound like what is popular at the time. Which explains their abysmal Nu-Metal phase. Other than Burn My Eyes and The Blackening - both of which are great albums - they've always been a bit of a 2nd-rate Pantera to me.

If you like Pantera you should check out Pissing Razors.

One of the best bands I've ever seen live, saw them twice on their "evening with" tour and they never let up.

Does Robb still talk way too much live?

One of my favourite live bands.
I love The Blackening and Killers and Kings has really grown on me. Great album. Unto The Locust got old really quickly, but I do love the song Locust. Their first two albums are also great.
Great band.

Rob is an annoying brodude and their current post-Ashes fase is cringeworthy. Oh look we're true metal now with soft and heavy epics and guitar leads and 8-minute songs!!!111!!

I didn't like Bloostone & Diamonds or Unto the Locust for that matter. Their last good album was Through the Ashes of Empires imo, i think The Blackening is kinda overrated.

I used to like them a lot, but their music gets old pretty fast. They really overuse the same formula over and over again. They are a great live band though but I can also see why some don't like Robb Flynn.

I'm not a fan of anything past the first album but I could have sworn a lot of you guys loved Machine Head back on the old forum, there was a big thread around the time of the last album.

I just can't listen to those vocal melodies they have in pretty much every song nowadays, I don't know how to describe them except they pretty much embody everything wrong with modern mainstream metal imo. It's just whining. ttps://youtu.be/r9Hkwx6oCdg?t=7m14sI have some other problems with modern Machine Head but this is the main one.

Speaking of bad vocal melodies, has anyone heard the latest Anthrax album?

The Nu-Metal was just a horrible time in music.
No solos. Really over processed drums and guitars. Short red hair on everyone and fucking stupid beards in braids and wacky hair like Static X.
It was just God. Awful.

Considering the debut, their career has turned out to be one of the great disappointments in metal, really.
The last few albums aren't shit, but I dunno, they just lost something somewhere in the great stinking cesspit of nu-metal and never really got it back.

I agree BME was so amazing i thought they'd become one of the great post thrash metal bands. Fear Factory also failed after Demanufacture.

At least Fear Factory managed to more or less retain their own identity despite any Nu-Metal leanings and the off-the-rails effort that is Transgression. But, said identity is also their greatest weakness, as demonstrated by their last two albums which is basically recycled, by-the-numbers Fear Factory.

Damn, no redemption allowed eh? Redemption from what? I just don't think they're that good of a band. Even stuff like Davidian I don't like.
