...how bad is it?
I have this serious morbid curiosity about it and I really want to hear it. I know it's supposedbly the worst thing to ever grace the earth but I...I just have to. It's tempting me. Please tell me if it's really that bad.

Please tell me if it's really that bad. The music is fantastic and if if the riffs were arranged differently, could have made a fantastic Metallica album. The View: Has a very Sabbathy type riff. The chorus riff is great too! Pumping Blood: The main riff is definitely interesting. Mistress Dread: Has a riff similar to the thrash riff in Disposable Heroes. Cheat On Me: A great build up if it was purely James and more compact. Frustration: Another Sabbathy type riff that is sped up near the end, making it a kicking bouncing riff. Dragon: Another kicking riff. Junior Dad: Could have been a ballad, not unlike The Unforgiven III.

Ok, so here is what you got to do. Stay up all night, play games, eat junk food, watch the Josie and the Pussycats movie. Then around 4:30 in the morning, when you are all loopy in the head, Listen to Lulu with some good headphones outside in your backyard, or take a walk around and just absorb it. Disc one is awsome. Listen to that one while you get lost in your own thoughts. disc two is allright. Give your. Self a few days, then listen to disc 2 if you liked the first one.

I think you should just go for it, after all it'll only be 80 minutes of your life and if you can obtain it or a stream for free then why not?
As for what I think about...it's not too bad! I would be unfair to judge either artist by the music on Lulu because it is faaaaaar from either's best work but it was certainly an interesting experiment which I don't think it was fully realised, unfortunately. Metallica probably stayed a little too close to home instrumentally and there times when it sounds like Lou is recording vocals for another album all together: there were definitely times when it all sounded a bit like it was the first time either artist played with the other. Sometimes it was good, other times it was GREAT and other times it was very pedestrian (when it should've been tense or chaotic or anything other than boring).
It had potential, for sure, and there are some reallygood parts (I really like 'Junior Dad", 'Iced Honey' and 'Brandenburg Gate). I would definitely recommend listening to it at least once and who knows you might end up really enjoying it! Don't go into it wanting to hate it or laugh it because that would be disingenuous. Go in with an open mind and see what you think!

I really wish there was some wait to obtain a copy of Lulu without vocals. From the little I was able to listen to, the music sounded good. The vocals were just so awful that I couldn't make it through an entire song. There's definitely some great material on there though.

Would I have preferred the music had gone towards the new Metallica album? Definitely. But I don't mind the vocals.

Inane ramblings over basic Metallica riffs.
It's shit...and if that is 'art' that I don't 'understand' then so is Justin Bieber farting the alphabet while playing the triangle.

So not the worst thing ever.
People who say that are metal heads who've never heard Lou Reed before. It's not even the worst Lou reed album.
If this album was identical but Metallica didn't play on it and it was just Lou reed - it would not have the reputation it does.
Lou reed fans like it and Metallica fans act like Lou is the new Metallica front man and this was their official follow up to Death Magnetic.

I always found lou to be like the drunken, abused Lenord Cohen. I get that he sounds like he does, but I'm ok with that, its not about the singing, its the feeling behind his words.
A song like Perfect Day, that was very close to being my wifes and I first dance at our wedding, but I was nervious that I would tear up too much since that song is very moving for me always, and on our wedding day most likly 100x more emotional for me.
LuLu is all rambly, messy and out of wack. But that's what makes it real for me. Listening to Pumping Blood makes me feel like I'm trapped inside the mind of crazy, messed up killer. I find it very similure to King Diamond in that sense. Its more of a charactor telling a naritive rather then a guy singing if that makes sense.

I don't know what people were expecting.
It's Lou Reed and Metallica.
It sounds exactly like that.
I'd rather listen to Lulu than 1D or Bieber or Jason Derulo or Tinie Temphah or any of that horrible teeny pop nonsense.

So there's no real point canvassing for opinion because the ONLY one that matters is yours! Just don't expect Death Magnetic 2. This is a completely separate and different beast. A collaboration.

I knew Lou Reed sucked, i had a listen on you tube when it first came out, I thought it sounded like some kids jamming in the back room of a bar, with the door closed, whilst some pissed old dude was sat at the bar talking bollocks to anyone that would listen. I think I only listened to part of one song.

The production alone makes it better than St. Anger.
Therefore it's neither artists' worst album.
It's nowhere near as unlistenable as Metal Machine Music.

Yeah, I gotta go with hetfieldsrage here. Lulu is the worst thing released upon mankind since ass cancer. And as for St. Anger, it is a fantastic record, and with better drum sound and a bit tighter arrangements it would be a Top 3 Metallica album.

It sounded like Lou Reed. And Metallica. Each doing their own thing. Lou Reed with Metallica (and them playing more toward Lou's arena) may have been better. And maaaaaaaaaaaate, 'Sorry' is a banger, soz pal. Personally i wasnt expecting anything. I knew Lou Reed sucked, i had a listen on you tube when it first came out, I thought it sounded like some kids jamming in the back room of a bar, with the door closed, whilst some pissed old dude was sat at the bar talking bollocks to anyone that would listen. I think I only listened to part of one song. ohhhh man, there are whole stretches of that record where that is indeed the case (albeit pretty talented kids and pissed dude talking semi-decent bollocks). Lou's alright tho:

It alternates between the downright bad and the merely average.
It's pretty inconsistent and sounds like they didn't put much effort into it.

Wasn't a big fan of it. Iced Honey had a nice groove to it.
Probably the only thing Metallica has done that I couldn't get into.

Lulu probably takes some time to get into... It's not "standard" music.
