I couldn't find a thread on this yet. Goddamit Alan.
Anyway, I just finished Finders Keepers by Stephen King (the sequel to Mr. Mercedes) and I thought it was brilliant. Hard to to put down.
Before that I read The Girl In The Spiders web, which was a pleasant surprise. It was written very similarly to Larson's Millenium books.
I'm really not sure what to read next. I'm contemplating a reread of the Magician trilogy, a John Grisham novel, or taking a drive to the bookstore and buy a few more books.
What at are you reading? What are your book recommendations?

I just finished Animal Farm, its one of those books that I've been meaning to get around to for the past 30 years, finally did, it was cool. A bit of a let down as to where I thought it was going, but still metaphoricly sound.

My wife goes on and on about that thing. I insisted in calling it a random grouping of nouns just to mock it.
Wood, bills, and lakes Ammo, pathogens, and iron Birds, tigers, and tables

I came across it because my friend got me to read Ishmael by Daniel Quinn, which was absolute crap. That book came up as a result of me searching for an alternative that was actually respectable.

Guns Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond This sounds like it would be of interest to me. UCLA's geography/planning and architecture/environmental school(s) are consistently great + tremendous reads!

Recently finished Lou Reed biography The Life. Great read, I like every Mick Wall book I've read.
Before that I read a book on Bon Scott written by his (ex)wife. Really enjoyed it, particularly with so much of the story being based here in Adelaide and Melbourne, and the bulk of the book being before ACDC got mega-huge.

I STARTED RE-READING BORIS GROYS' The Total Art of Stalinism ( Avant-Garde, Aesthetic Dictatorship and Beyond ) BECAUSE LAST TIME I READ IT I WASN'T really paying attention and Groys is the boy and it seemed to be really interesting. AND I TOTALLY DIDN'T BUY IT BECAUSE OF THE COVER... (see below) Btw, anyone know any decent books on the living wage and universal basic income? I have an economics essay due in three weeks but I want it over with by the end weekend so that I can focus on townscapeanalyuhsghsjghsssssjhhsjhb assignment. So eh, eh? Amazing. Don't hug other men in front of me please Barty. I get jealous. We'll always have Frasier But you'll always, always be my S.A bae <3 (sorrie Ford, Spartan... ) between Delbs in Victoria and my irl gf in the ACT I'm going about collecting trysts in each of your states and territories.

That goat has a fantastic hat. Indeed, Macho Man Randy Savage would have loved it. I started reading ''Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas'' I've seen the movie a bunch of times and allways meant to read the book. So far, so good. I allways like reading that type of story over watching a movie. I'd rather let my mind imagine that kind of trippy stuff up then see it on a screen.

But you read all these threads... or do you? Text to speech? I'm sure some of these posts would sound really funny with Microsoft Sam/Stephen Hawlkings reading them.

Reading forums is different because it's interactive. Reading a long book from cover to cover that I can't interact with...I don't have the patience for that.

I ended up buying A Study in Scarlett, The Road and Gone Girl. I've finished A Study and Scarlett, and Gone Girl (which was awesome). I started The Road but had to put it down. The writing style makes it really difficult to read. Very little grammar and punctuation. Everyone loves this book, and McCarty as an author, but I'm not sure how people can look past the writing style and still absorbed by the story. I'll come back to it and give it another try at some point. Giving The Magician another read. I loved that book when I was just starting to get into books as a teen. I read it a second time about 5 years ago, and then read it's sequels. Figured it's time for another run through.
