I just listened to Pale Communion again.
I still feel the same way about it album. It feels very disjointed and I really don't like Mikael's singing. His worst. There are undeniably however fantastic songs and moments. Even my girlfriend liked Moon Above, Sun Below.
It is definately a good album. But I prefer Heritage. Heritage feels genuine. It has a distinct character which PC lacks.
Speaking of Opeth, I spend a lot of money on Opeth last weekend.
I bought Royal Albert Hall Vinyl, Damnation&Deliveranve 5.1 reissue (even if I had both albums before) and Pale Communion 5.1 audio edition. And I'm going to probably preorder Sorceress before ordering Pain of Salvations Remedy Lane Remix and Evergrey's new album.

They usually have some pretty good "making of" videos from the recording of their albums, but these Sorceress clips have been so boring.

It's free because of album sales/youtube uploads. They didn't do one last time. Bonus video discs, and live releases, are pretty much dead. |

I like it, reminds me of Damnation a bit. If the rest of album id as heavy as the reviews I've read claim, then I think this will make a nice contrast.

Looks like we're gonna get another mellow album (no growls on Sorceress apparently). I actually liked a few songs off Pale Communion (Eternal Rains, Cusp of Eternity, Goblin) but Heritage sucked. Not sure i'm gonna like another album full of ballads.

Opeth tour dates announced for Aus!  And playing my favourite venue. Seen them a few times, each time they've played a different venue. The last one was a little more intimate than others which made for some cool member / audience interaction. |

BWP and Ghost Reveries are their best albums. Agrees. The recent crap is nearly unlistenable Hippie garbage. Im okay with going soft if it's done right... Ala Zakk Wyldes solo stuff, but most of Opeths recent stuff is just garbage. I'm a huge fan of Akerfeldt with Bloodbath... Great traditional death metal right there! |
