I am so fucking excited. The full show. As some of you know I have a hard on for early 2003 Metallica. This release is pure gold. I have always been hoping the band would release fully professional recorded versions of all of the "three shows in one day" but this one is a great start.
Hopefully have Mike taken note of the mixes he did for Fan Can 5 (Fillmore) and the ones appearing on the "SKOM EP". Slightly worried he has re-mixed them using the LM standard.
Edit: Added the youtube video of some footage:

Yeah should be very cool.
I doubt he will use the LM approach. That's very much on the fly/on the road. For these types of things (Grimeys for example) it's "studio" mixed.

Yes but there has to be another approach. Compare the mixes on the SKOM EP/Fan Can 5 and then compare those to Grimeys. The drums in particular sounds horrible on the Grimeys release while Fillmore has that huge drum sound. Just like the drums on LM recordings in 2006-2007 had the best sound. When did it change for the worse? September 2008, while they announced a new mixing tecnique (mixing board).

Add to the horrible sound on LM didn´t make it better. I saw them in Copenhagen that year and compared to the other 15 times I´ve seen them it was the worst of the bunch.

I saw them in January 2004 and they were still great at the point. I think by the time the US tour rolled round, James' voice was shot, Lars had his breakdown... And they were just all collectively over it.
I remember an interview with Hetfield at the time stating that he's looking forward to a break from being in Metallica. Which is understandable, it was pretty much rehab, arguing with band in the studio, therapy, an 18 month tour, SKOK movie premieres, all the press etc...
It's obvious they learnt a lot from that period.

Yeah I was both in Copenhagen and Bremen, huge difference. Bremen is probably one of my favorite shows

Speaking of guitar sound. I love the 2003 sound. So heavy and massive.
Oh, and James playing Number of the beast

The guitar sound in that 2003 rehearsal video sounds thin and scratchy. And man I hate the way he used to sing Master of Puppets. I also remember how the forum went crazy thinking Hetfield got rid of the moustache only months after he just brought it back! It was just that the video was so low quality you couldn't make it out.

James looks like a 70s porn star in the video with the glasses, so weird. That or like the guy from The Eagles of Death Metal. Worst looking James era IMO.

Yeah, he looks much older ten years ago with a stach and glasses then he does now all tatted up with no stach. Or the horid streight outa rehab nerdy thing he had going on in most of SKOM.

So this release is a little more than the typical Live Met CDs?
Not just the cardboard and stuck on artwork sleeve??

I haven't taken much notice of this release to be honest, I just figured it was a Blackened release similar to the Live Met stuff but special because of it being from 03. I just got more interested

Didn't know the profit went to the survivors and relatives of the Paris attack. Well done Metallica

In 2004 he looked like a soccer player or something. He does look rather 1998/early 2004 David Beckham-esque.
