By MetBB Edition, well you have an Alan P instead of a Michael P. Probably need to be British for that one... SO let's play Rules are simple, you are stranded on a desert island, there's a banging stereo and you managed to save 5 CDs before the ship went down. What did you save? I'll go first, In no particular order... 1) Down - Nola 2) Metallica - Garage Inc 3) Pantera - Far Beyond Driven 4) Viking Skull - Born in Hell And with absolute certainty 5) Type O Negative - October Rust Alternatively this could be just a "top 5 albums currently in favour" without the unnecessary fanfare... Hmmmm....

This is better as Dessert Island Discs. I'd probably go with
(first 3 are always my constants - next 2 change)
1. Opeth - Still Life 2. Blind Guardian - Nightfall In Middle-Earth 3. Sigur Ros - Agaetis Byrjun 4. Metallica - ...And Justice For All 5. Belle & Sebastian - Dear Catastrophe Waitress

No particular order:
Metallica - Reload Monster Magnet - Dopes to Infinity Johnny Cash - The Essential Madonna - The Immaculate Collection Nirvana - MTV Unplugged in New York
Monster Magnet and Nirvana are absolutely vital. I could survive with those two.

I could list my favourite albums, but since it's a desert island scenario, maybe it would be better to go for variety instead..*scratches beard*

I mean, I love her 80s and 90s stuff, but probably wouldn't pick her very high on a "favorite albums" list. But just for variety's sake, she's in.

Metallica - Garage Inc. Sublime - Sublime Rage Against the Machine - Rage Against the Machine Nirvana - With The Lights Out Red Hot Chili Peppers - One Hot Minute
and I'd try to stuff a copy of Radiohead's OK Computer inside one of the cases while no ones looking
It feels really sad to sometimes think about how this could actually happen and I could lose all that music forever.

Led Zeppelin - Remasters Metallica - MOP John Butler Trio - Sunrise Over Sea Radiohead - The Best Of Tim Hecker - Harmony in Ultraviolet
Led Zep cos I would dance around to their music on the island, MOP cos its MOP, JBT because I need some acoustic guitar jammy stuff, Radiohead best of for some variety and Tim Hecker for some ambient stuff when I am laying on the beach gazing at the stars.
Of course I could justify hundreds of other albums, these are just the first few that came to my head.
Garage Inc was a good choice btw guysssss.

Edgard Varese - Complete Works Autechre - Quaristice Swans - The Seer Medeski Martin & Wood - Radiolarians Gorguts - Obscura
There's enough variety and volume in there to keep me happy. Lots to sink my teeth into and continue discovering new things. Double albums, a triple album, layers and complexity, funnity, solemnity, etc.

Tori Amos - Scarlet's Walk My favourite album of all time, so a no brainer. Could quite happily have put five Tori albums, but opted not to for variety's sake.
Guns N' Roses - Live Era '87-'93 I'd much rather have the studio versions of the songs, but picking one album would mean I'd miss out on loads of other great songs. The greatest hits album isn't nearly comprehensive enough, so the live release it is. Features most of Appetite and a lot of the highlights from the Illusions and Lies. Shame it's brickwalled, but I'm stuck on a desert island here so not gonna complain about it. Naturally, it'd be the Japanese version with "Coma" as a bonus track.
Edguy - Rocket Ride A fun, diverse album that's great for a variety of moods. One of those albums where I put a song on and before I know it I've run through the rest of the album as well. Would get a lot of play time.
Alice Cooper - The Definitive Alice Cooper It's difficult to find an album that includes a sizeable amount of Alice's discography (unless we're allowed box sets, in which case The Life and Crimes of Alice Cooper gets the nod), so I'm opting for this. A load of classic group era Alice songs with some solo stuff following on.
Kate Bush - Hounds of Love Didn't know whether to choose this or The Whole Story. With this I miss out on some classics but get an amazing album. Again, if box sets were an option I'd be going for This Woman's Work.

NOBODY SAID ANYTHING ABOUT IF THERE WAS MORE THAN ONE CD PACKED INTO A BIG BOX THAT LOOKED LIKE ONE CD
if they did then use my old list
The Metallica Collection Nirvana - Bleach (deluxe edition) [cuz it's better] Sublime - Sublime Rage Against the Machine - Rage Against the Machine DELUXE (with some hidden cypress hill songs at the end) Red Hot Chili Peppers - One Hot Minute

nah nah nah....otherwise I'm taking my Beatles boxes instead of the White Album.
Are there CD Police on this island? I mean how deserted is it really?
Someone chose With the Lights Out, will they be allowed on the island with that under their arm?

I'd take the two boxsets called All past music (by various artists) and All future music (also by various artists) with me.

The Beatles - White Album or The Beatles - 1967-1970, if that's allowed. Joanna Newsom - Ys Radiohead - Kid A Shiina Ringo - Kalk Samen Kuri no Hana Nas - Illmatic or Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly
I went for variety, and in the case of the Beatles simply the amount of songs.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - One Hot Minute Over BSSM? Why do you hate yourself? Did you forget that it's 'down the river', not 'across the stream'? I debated with myself about that for about 10 minutes and just chose One Hot Minute because it's got better individual tracks, I guess? I dunno. I just chose it.
