As a man who likes good production, harmonies and mixtures between heavy and melodic....I fucking love that album.

That's a pretty darn good 20 minutes.

I once listened to And Justice For All in its entirety.
Once the album had finished - I immediately put on " Sad But True ".
The difference in production was staggering.

That's a pretty drastic change in sound. From the dryest, thinnest sound Metallica has ever done to their fattest, fullest, heaviest mass of sound.

I've always considered TBA their best work period. Many say that album sold them out or whatever, but I think it's an epic, amazing and untouchable album in music history

I think it's on par with Puppets as their best album.
It's funny, I love the songs on Master of Puppets, but for the last 6-7 years I've really only listened to live performances of the songs. However, I still listen to the Black album frequently. The songs are crafted perfectly and it still sounds amazing after all these years.

Production wise - only Garage Inc Disc 1 equals it.
Load is great too but a little muddier than The Black Album or Garage Disc 1

I think it's on par with Puppets as their best album. My top 3 are 1. master of puppets 2. metallica 3. ride the lightning ride would be equal to master if not for escape & trapped under ice.

It's nothing new though, happens quite often that TBA outsells new albums, especially whenever Metallica is active in some way

Its because most fans of the Black album are too old to know how to download music so they actually go out and buy it on CD.

If it says anything, my wife, frequently asks to hear songs of thr Black Album just for the drum production.
This is a woman who mocks me anytime I mention the bit rates of mp3s, we aren't talking about an audiophile or anything.

Its because those drums vibrate oh so nicely with all that bass and stir her up, that's your cue Logan!

For me, The Black Album is the most enjoyable Metallica album to listen to. The sound is perfection. Same here. I honestly get bored with the loads and DM anymore. But I could loop TBA over and over....

Easiest to listen is probably Garage Inc (because it's the newest one to me) followed by Load.

Maybe since TBA was my first initial purchase where I became a fan. Not sure. It's just stapled in me.

Actually, one thing I forgot to mention. I should say that KEA and RTL has the least replay value. I dunno why. They just don't interest me. I should say that some songs I come back to often (the last 3, Don't tread on me, and Nothing Else Matters). The rest I only play from time to time.

There was a time when anything pre-TBA didn't interest me period. It just had an....."old" feel that I could never get into.

I think the songwriting on MOP is better, but TBA is probably my favourite.

It makes me wonder if TBA was planned that way, or naturally epic.
