Playing Gears 4 on Xbox One X and the HDR on my TV is eye meltingly good, the metal of the guns, armour and doors looks real.

Let me ask this, since I haven't really messed with this gen's consoles. Has it become regular that you can turn graphic effects off (or down for more frames?)
Graphics are better than ever and yet they have shitty, useless effects going on that make them worse too. Like grain filter and chromatic aberration. That shit is just unnecessary. I'm just going to be getting a PS4 for the exclusives. Don't need an Xbox now that those games are coming to PC.

Unlike Activision and these other huge gaming companies, Electronic Arts has always been a corporate creation that has taken advantage of the video game craze that started in the late 1970s and early 80s. From the get go they were buying up other people in gaming companies. This has been their MO the whole time. It's just now that they probably realized the more they buy up these studios, the more money they can make and they know even if it ultimately fails they can get that good 1+ million first week in sales. They're not going away nor a protest will work, they successfully tapped their way into mainstream casual gamers so grandparents and parents of kids will be buying these games. All you can do is pick and choose the best out of the pile and not buy into their stupid microtransactions. I seriously suggest everyone take marketing classes, that shit opened up my mind. |

I've been watching speed runs on Youtube the last few weeks and it's re-piqued my interest in gaming. I have a PS3 but I want a new system, honestly can't decide whether to get a PS4 or a SNES Mini (if I can find one).

idk, the idea to me of playing a game is the challenge of completing tasks, and either receiving simple acknowledgement that you did it, or a 'reward.'

Man, I’m loving having an Xbox One again. Really enjoying CoD:WW2 Mutlplayer. PUBG. My brother got me Fallour 4 and Forza Horizon 3 for Christmas. Horizon 2 was one of my favourites when I last had a One, and Horizon 3 could be on the best looking games of all time. They have really nailed the vibe of Australia, the foliage, the landscape, the houses, etc...although the geography and the accents are fucked! I’m even loving Fallout 4, when it first came out I couldn’t get into it after loving F3.
Plus I have BF1 and Assassin’s Creed to put some time into, and I picked up CoD4 Remastered today too coz I had some store credit at JB. Too many games to play! Luckily I’m at home sick with a serious heart condition for two weeks!

So I beat Zelda and I've been playing this other game called Xenoblade Chronicles 2 because it seemed like another story based game that would be easy and intuitive to play...but nope, hardcore RPG. I feel like I need to take a 101 class just to understand the battle system in this game.
It has a pretty good story so far tho although I haven't progressed that far into the game yet.
