What about the yet to be released new album? Will that one be remastered as well? What will the box set be Like?

No. I'm going to spend £198 on both boxes. Still daylight robbery imo. Listening to the sample clips the guitars just sound louder lol. Still, it's your money, your choice. The remasters are only a small portion of what makes up the boxes.

This will be an ongoing fight to resist buying these boxes filled with awesomeness. I'll probably give in around Load :-/

I'll engage you on the basis that you're not being "HR" on this one..... If you can only hear loud guitars then that's how you hear it. But, without doubt, that is not "just" what has gone on in the remastering of these songs. The whole dynamic range has changed. the bass is WAY more prominent, the drums have more definition and sound crisper (cymbals particularly),the guitars have more bite.... it's really, sonically, a different thing entirely. Also add in the fact that you are getting vinyl, live CDs, DVD, a book, patch. It's TOTALLY worth £100. And that's fucking cheap too. Take a look at the Dream Theater deluxe box for their last studio album and in pales in comparison in terms of content and value for money. What about the yet to be released new album? Will that one be remastered as well? What will the box set be Like? Presume so, yes. What will it contain? Demos, live stuff, book, DVD. I presume.

That reminds of how much I want a "making magnetic" thing from the new album

Just wondering why they don't just master the new album as good as the remasters in the first place. Unless the new album remaster will only come out in 15 years.

I'm so tempted to listen to these in full on Apple Music, but I must resist the urge and wait for the boxsets to arrive. It's a struggle.
ETA from Amazon - May 2nd. Arrgggg

I think he ordered it and doesn't want to spoil the surprise for when he gets it.

Kind of in line with what I heard on the first few samples: dr.loudness-war.info/album/list?artist=metallica&album=

it doesn't even score as well as the original masters.

I don't particularly care what that site says. To my ears, they sound better than the previous versions. And as I only judge things based on how I hear them, that's all that matters.

just caved and listened to the remasters on Apple Music. They sound fantastic.
I'll hold out for all the other material though.

Picked up the Ride the Lightning box from my good ol' local record store today. Awesome stuff. I've been listening to the live CDs pretty much all day.

Shit.
I'm getting fucking antsy about this. I ordered through SpinCDs here in the UK. They've changed the release date to May 13th on their site, I've emailed them 3 times and got no response and the (admittedly, old) reviews I've read of them online have not been great.
Amazon UK is "temporarily out of stock". Amazon.de lists at April 29th release date. Metallica.com is backup with order. I don't know what to do. I live chatted with Amazon UK this morning who told me that they HAD them but they sold them all so they are awaiting more from the supplier.... but they can't 100% confirm this. Amazon France and Germany both specify a release date of April 29th..... Amazon.com has them available.... so is this a production delay for Europe and they WILL appear online soon or do I bite the bullet and order from Amazon.com.
ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHH FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK
I will lose my shit if I don't get these boxes for a decent price. And by that I mean I don't want to buy them for £300 a pop in 2 months on eBay because they all sold out via regular retailers.

Amazon.com prices works out at £176.23..... which is pretty much what it's listed for on Amazon.co.uk and it willl arrive in 2-4 business days......
SHIIIIITTTT
If I order I can then cancel my Spin order and get my £198 back. But... I could wait and then re-sell my Spin boxes on ebay for the price I paid Amazon for.
Oh for fucks sake I don't know what to do.
