Well considering that the deluxe box of Dream Theater's last album is retailing for $199 and you only get one album in that, where as you get, what, 5 in the Metallica ones? (And yes, the live shows are albums. Unless Binge & Purge is now considered to not be an album too. I'd say the Metallica box is actually pretty fucking good value for money.
People seem to forget that this is Metallica and whilst there have been shades of stupidity with regards to slapping their name on silly bits of merch they have NEVER been a band to take advantage of their fan base, financially. When has ANYTHING they've done been about money? No album releases then 2 months later a special "tour" edition. No content specific only to a certain retailer. They paid $4m for SKOM. What? $40m for TTN? Lulu lost them money too. Running MetClub cost them $400k A YEAR. Jesus Christ, tickets to the 30th year anniversary cost less than $20. It's never been about money. It's covering the costs of creation.
I've been a fan of this band for almost 30 years. I feel confident when I say that I know they have done all they can to keep the price as low as they can.

Awesome videos, No Remorse is so fast though that it's hard to make out the riffs at times. And the Whiplash vid is great. Cool to see some pro shot stuff from back then. James looks like Hillary Swank during that era, all horsefaced and stuff.

For TBA release I was thinking/hoping forthe instrumental version of Misery if such a thing was completed properly as the original idea was.
Probably see the elevator version of NEM.
Like we spoke about before, hoping for some of those buried layers to be brought forward on some tracks.
Moscow '91.
TBA period also included the Freddie Mercury tribute show and the Queen cover, so maybe something there.
Also they should remaster the moment when James blew his voice on So What.

No. I'm going to spend £198 on both boxes. Still daylight robbery imo. Listening to the sample clips the guitars just sound louder lol. Still, it's your money, your choice.  |
