Well DM already had a remaster last year. But it was iTunes only. The iTunes remaster didn't make the CD copy of mine sound any different... which I bought with money. Unfortunately.

Will they be doing Garage days, or Garage Inc.? What about I Disappear?

Things I have learnt with these sort of releases... I was bought the Far beyond Driven 20th anniversary re-master. It came with a remastered version and a live album. I listened to them both once and took them off my ipod because they interfere with a Pantera Marathon on long journeys. I feel exactly the same about rereleases and deluxe versions of albums. They are great to listen to as a curiosity, but nothing more. It's a one listen and onto the shelf type of affair. I don't see myself in 2 years time thinking "hmmm I'm going to chuck in the 2nd vinyl of the Ride The Lightning deluxe edition and listen to 3 different demos of Creeping Death."

Sorry to say, but even if they remixed, remastered and rerecorded Death Magnetic, the version you currently own on CD is going to still sound the same.

this may also help shut up the idiots who, despite direct statements from the band that pre-St.Anger every song they ever had was released in the albums, hearing about "the vault" just couldn't help "guarantee" there's tons of unreleased songs.

That's the point I'm making, I bought the album, sound quality was what it was... and now if I wanted, I could REbuy the album with better sound quality.

Right, so your point is that you currently own the album and if you want to buy the remastered albums you will.
Great insight.

I think, judging by the reaction here, I'll head over the forum to get all excited It's okay, I'm excited too. What's with all the fuckin vinyl? Does anyone own a record player? Someone's clearly not hip and with it. Vinyl's actually kind of hot right now. I'd definitely like to get my hands on a nice new copy of RtL. Not sure I want to spend 150 dollars on all that other stuff; a lot of it looks cool to have, but I don't think I want it that much.

So I've yet to decided whether to pull the trigger on purchasing both boxes now from Amazon US or waiting for them to be listed on Amazon UK. Some duder over at the Forums has planted a seed of doubt in my mind.
Plus the fact that these are supposedly limited editions in terms of numbers AND they are being release on RSD16 adds to the tension as well.

From Amazon UK:
I know. I was the one that told you this AND provided you links to the US site.
What dafuq? I mean, I know what they are trying to say but seriously, this is an ok sentence to put in a customer email?!
Jesus...

No. Just pointing out that isn't it fun to buy the same album AGAIN with different money to get an actually good one soundwise. Which is something I'm most likely not going to do, just saying all those who bought the original "clipversion" should get the improved one for free.

Mr. Entitlement strikes again! a) You could have returned Death Magnetic if you didn't like it. b) The rerelease is a different product. - You don't take a 1982 Toyota Celica into a Toyota dealership and say "I paid good money for this, now I see you have a newer improved version out, I demand I get a new 2016 one for free".... Actually you probably would do that. c) No one is forcing you to buy the album again.

I wouldn't try that. c) Lars keeps bugging me with his phone calls, letters, e-mails... make it stop! I'm saying, I bought it once, why shouldn't I have the best possible version for my money?

Back when HMV actually sold CDs, they had a return pollicy that if you didn't like the CD you could bring it back, took them about 2 years to catch on that people were burning CDs and bringing them back. Still, for those two years we got a lot of free CDs.

A and B) Most retail stores have return policies. C) You got the best product available to you at the time of purchase. You got exactly what you paid for - an album of music. You did not purchase a lifetime of upgrades, revisions or rereleases. They would be different products available for purchase. A better, but less amusing, analogy would be walking into a store that sells BluRays, and saying "I own the VHS version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze, and I would like to collect a copy of the 4K Ultra-HD Director's Cut version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze with 3 alternative endings, free of charge, as I am entitled to the best product available for my money, and this VHS version I currently own is vastly inferior."

I'm not saying they should give new free iTunes versions to everyone who has bought DM back in the day, just saying it would be polite. And how does anyone prove they have bought that clipfest anyway... if they don't happen to have the receipt.
Anyway, this is wildly offtopic and this "debate" should end right here.

I didn't get the CD version until it was literally 1p on amazon.co.uk.
I bought the iTunes remaster. I should burn it to CD and keep it in the DM case.

I used Amazon to pre-order the deluxe versions. Shipping was about US$8 versus Metstore US$150+. Would be quite happy using Metstore but cant ignore that kinda difference

Fuck me. These releases are godly. I don´t care about the remasters (except for a remix of AJFA or DM) but those rare LIVE recordings like MetalHammer 85 on video are damn impressive.
Can´t wait whats in store for AJFA era or Black. Unreleased footage from 89 or full Moscow 91 in HD.... Creaming

Was Moscow filmed in a format that can be made HD? No idea. Seattle was probably taped on 30 mm film. San Diego 92 was probably shot on VHS (tape).

Don't think Moscow was on film judging by what I've seen. Or Seattle. Which means no HD. There is a discussion about Cunning Stunts being converted to HD as that was film on 35mm.
I don't think anything pre CS was recorded in a format that can convert to HD basically. Could be wrong...
