What does remastering actually mean? Tell us who don't know...

They're probably just going to boost the volume and give them a quick reEQing. Kill Em All- Ultimate Clipping Edition-Only $29.99

Regarding the box sets - They look cool, but I can't justify spending the money, I'm not one to sit around listening to different mixes and demoes, I'll listen once out of curiosity, but nothing more. Watching the live performances, especially the previously unreleased Day on The Green stuff will be cool, but will inevitably end up YouTube. Im not super into this era of the band, outside of the studio albums, so it makes sense to save the cash.
I'll hold out for the Master of Puppets, Black Album and Load special editions, if/when they arrive.
Either way, they seem like fantastic bundles to own.

Well DM already had a remaster last year.
But it was iTunes only.
It does sound better though.
And no - Justice will not have louder bass. For the billionth time - remastering does not mean remixing.

I'm not spending over 100 bucks to listen to some garage demos once. I'm also not the biggest fan of the KEA and RTL live era. They've sounded very sloppy to me during that period. In my opinion they started getting better live after MOP came out. I'll probably save my money for a nice TBA re-release with the Moscow gig or some nice stuff from Justice. I'm also looking forward to what's on the Load & ReLoad extras.

But haven't we heard all the demos from back then? And who is saying that there is Day on The Green footage that isn't from Cliff em All? Isn't there no other footage? I'm a broke ass mofo with kids, I would love to be able to gets these delux delux editions but if all they have is just stuff that we have heard before, no thanks. I will pick up new cds though if they actually do sound dramaticly better then the ones that have been out since time began.

An official release of Justice with audible bass would be amazing.

I will pick up new cds though if they actually do sound dramaticly better then the ones that have been out since time began. It actually lists what has been previously available, in the press release. There's a ton of stuff that is new and unreleased before. Of course, if you are a rabid collector/listener of bootlegs then some of the live stuff might be familiar. As far as DOTG goes, the only stuff out there is on the DVD. MTV did not film the whole show and I think that even the stuff on the DVD is not going to be complete (except Bells). Unless they've gone into the MTV archives and pulled the original tapes or something. An official release of Justice with audible bass would be amazing. Never going to happen. Well... maybe it will... nope. Gonna stick with my guns here. If there was no remix of KEA & RTL then I don't there will be a remix of AJFA.

Ok, so I checked the fine details, I have heard most of this stuff before and have a lot of it on Cassette! (Does me a lot of good these days) I do have the Whiplash remix on a cd somewhere though, and the fake live stuff. The box sets are awsome, it would be a really nice score. The price is good too, but I imagine the shipping will be a lot.

Yay to the re-recordings of Seek and Phantom without the shitty live crowd overdubs! This is going to be cool to hear. Not worth spending all the money on, but definitely worth getting out there after all these years.

They also put out a MetClub sampler which is cool! It's stuff that I wanted to hear a lot too, compared to some of the other stuff. The live material doesn't do too much for me, but these mixes will be cool to hear as the audio geek I am.

I might buy this one, but I'm not sure. Probably gonna buy the MoP one, would like to see track list first though. I think I'll skip on AJFA, unless it has a live Frayed Ends, in which I will buy it. Not sure about black album, will "wait and see". I can't really see how a remaster would improve the sound very much. It's already pretty perfect itself. Definitely getting load and reload, no questions asked. St. Anger I probably will buy, because I heard these songs actually have solos, they just cut them from the album. In that case, I would like to hear them. Death Magnetic I'll most likely skip on because a bunch of extras have already been released in Coffin Box and Beyond Magnetic. Besides, the iTunes master is okay enough for me. Still overly loud, but much less clipping and refraction. For all of these though, I would like to see the track list before descision is final.

Things I have learnt with these sort of releases... I was bought the Far beyond Driven 20th anniversary re-master. It came with a remastered version and a live album. I listened to them both once and took them off my ipod because they interfere with a Pantera Marathon on long journeys.
