I am a regular record fair and record store visitor. I am on an email list that gives me a headsup for whats on for the year plus updates as more are added. I probably make it to 5 or 6 a year. Love the hunt and browsing, have done since I was in high school. Still have all my original vinyls and continue to add. Last LPs I bought were compilations, a Daddy Cool one and a Kinks one. Also brought home Oasis debut and Hendrix First Rays that day. |

For those of us of a certain disposition it was also 'It's Your Letters'. This album just reminds me a of friends and driving in cars and dabbling in genres outside of metal. There were a handful of albums that were key to broadening my horizons and this was one. Still guitar based, but funkier... more soul... more rock...more commercial (and not in a bad way).

METALLICA | Hardwired...To Self-Destruct | Limited Edition, Reissue, Pink Marbled Vinyl | Pressing Released 2017www.discogs.com/release/10932476-Metallica-HardwiredTo-Self-DestructA cool pressing for a good cause (the fourth annual Ten Bands One Cause). Like much of later Metallica, this album suffers a little bit with stuffing too many songs onto an album. Would have been better with a couple of stracks trimmed off but, still, a pretty good album for this point in their career. I do respect that about Metallica, they could easily just tour every summer and play the hits and retire on the money but they still want to write new music, they still want to create something and whether we like it or not, we have to respect that drive.

I was taken aback at how visceral and violent it was. Just pure aggression and wrath. Prepare for the heresy but... this is my fav Slayer album. I can't remember when I first heard TOTD or how I got into them. I suspect that the Pearl Jam connection was a link (I already had 'Ten' on CD). Perhaps it was Kerrang. Or a friend. I have no idea. No matter, I'm glad that we got this music from these musicians. Part of me wishes we had more, but then I also love that we have just these 9 songs. I've read/heard in a few places that the TA fanbase sort of looks on this album in a negative way. Not me. I love this album. From the epic opening track to the closing epic track. A few years ago, I was going through a bit of a tough time, I was in a dark place and it was becoming increasingly harder to, well, stay above the line. Then I heard 'Shine' and it gave me much comfort. It wormed its way into my heart and mind and still, to this day, moves me to tears when I hear it. I'm not particularly religious but, for me, there is definitely something imbued in this one song that touches my soul.
