Hoodoo Gurus DIG IT UP
In the 80s this band got my attention after releasing an oldschool sounding single Like Wow Wipeout along with its cheapie videoclip which got a good run. The album was called Mars Needs Guitar so of course I had to buy it. Then I found the first release and I was hooked. Band still tours today. Last time I saw them (maybe 2015?) they were as strong as ever.

Masters Apprentices TURN UP YOUR RADIO
Formed in my home city in the mid 60s and surviving into the early 70s The Masters Apprentices cemented themselves into the Australian music industry with some big hits in that time. Because I Love You is a song that seemed to be around all through every summer here. This song still gets radio play. We used to play it in our bar band and always got people moving. The long time rumour is Jim recorded the vocal for this track pissed out his mind, lying on his back in the studio. Founding member and bass player Gavin Webb died last week so I have been keen to post this in here. RIP Spider.

Baby Animals RUSH YOU
Led by Suze DeMarchi on vocals/guitar this band only released 2 albums in their 7 year existence, 89-96. But they had massive impact with a debut album full of great rock songs and perfect for radio. Still hear them played today and the have reformed more recently playing Aussie festivals.
They were chosen by some big names as support slot (Van Halen, Robert Plant) and worked with Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme) who Suze eventually married.

The Clouds SAY IT The Clouds are touring soon for a retrospective anniversary thingo. Reminded me of this little banger they put out in 92. I bought the CD Single haha! Catchy song. The visuals in that video are sooooo '92 era. Like, you can spot an 80's video for its cheesy Max Headroom style early CGI stuff, but this tripped out rainbow stuff is pure early 90's, and the clothes and hairstyles....🥳 So nostalgic.

How could I forget! My favorite current Australian artist is Hayley Mary. I've mentioned her before on here. I was hooked straight away when I heard the song/watched the video which is the first of the bunch down below. Then her next single Like a woman should topped that! I love, love, love her songwriting, sound and voice. <3

The Angels TAKE A LONG LINE
Second only to AC/DC in Australia's rock scene, The Angels have toured our country and saturated our radio for 5 decades. Great live band, originating from my home city, I have seen them a number of times. Their biggest song "Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again?" has iconic audience interaction guaranteed every show..... the chorus uses the songtitle and the crowd replies with a "No Way, Get Fucked, Fuck Off!". No, it has never got old. I used to have an Angels singlet with that painted across it as a teenager (blunder years). Hit after hit, all with huge radioplay, their songs are quite timeless when I think about it. No Secrets, Shadow Boxer, and a big swing at the overseas market with a cover of The Animals We Gotta Get Outta This Place. The Brewster Brothers were heroes of mine... twin guitars, dark sunnies, stood still all gig facing forward, real tight playing and loud. Couple of years back I got them to sign the bands biography after watching them play Bob Dylan covers one Sunday arvo in a little beach cafe close to my place. I have lots of memories of The Angels. Great Aussie band. Lead singer Doc has passed on... the band came back together when another Aussie legend singer from the next gen stepped in and they still play a solid show all these years later.
Always a crowd favourite.
THIS IS IT FOLKS, OVER THE TOP
