Imagine them not saying it's an AI band, and just says Metallica. Sure, at some point they would get shut down, but you know someone will try it and that is the whole point. In a generation, many may not know who or what Metallica is/was. Will this affect our generation at all? No, we {mostly} aren't as sharp as a bag of wet mice. They tried augmented music with HoloDio and it hella sucked. I do not want VR music and shudder to think that music is going that way. Yes, there are bands I would have loved to have seen: Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Bon era Ac/Dc but I have no desire to see or hear what a computer "thinks" those bands would look or sound like. Even if they take a live audio recording and sync it, it will still be a computer generation of the image. Don't you get it? Sure, it will be a human inputting data, but it will always come down to what the computer "thinks" it should look/sound like. You'll never be watching Metallica once they are gone. I saw them in Seattle Dec 86 and was in the crowd 29 Aug 1989. I have my memories and that legendary concert video. No, this isn't the same thing as a concert video, Live Shit was exactly that: Live. It wasn't a cgi/AI abomination.

Lol, most appropriate use of that Grandpa Simpson picture.
So if they converted S&M into a 3D VR experience, you would not jump on that? I could do that in photoshop or After Effects but my PC is a piece of shit and would explode trying to render it, and it would look flat even though it would be 360° Metallica already played with the 360° and it was pretty awesome watching with my little cardboard VR glasses. If it was an official release, And HQ used AI to extract 3D layers off of old Live DVDs, would you still be yelling at a cloud? I would kill to see the Doors or Jimi at Woodstock, it's not the real thing, but man it would be awesome.

I don't need or artificial fake in one of my few sanctuary zones. If I want reality, I'll go outside. Besides all that, there is no chance in hell that any video fakery of any performance could come close to 29 Aug 1989 and I have the video to back it up. My one tech regret is that Live Shit was shot on vhs not film, so there is no way it can have a proper HD version. And no, upgrading a video source to full hd is not the same thing. I have seen some of the so called "HD" versions on youtube and they suck. I got no issue with people enjoying what the new wave of tech may bring, Just don't be shoving HoloDio in my face and call it Dio or metal, because it's neither Dio Nor Metal. I'd rank it right up there with Nu-Pantera as an abomination. And yeah, I am a 63 year old {cranky at times} fuck. Still rock my t-shirts.

Great debating guys. I see both your points and find myself agreeing to both sides. The start of AI infiltrating our lives and things we love was always going to create these differing opinions. I think the biggest focus needs to be protecting the artists, the real creators, their image, their voice, their likeness, their being.
BTW, I had you at a way younger age Jetpacksam.

Completely agree about artist protection. That's what my psychiatrist said........
