That riff is kind of tough to pull off (literally) especially when you're playing hard live. I can't think of a lot of other loud, fast riffs they have that aren't based on the E and A strings.
Edit: I guess really Hit the Lights. But not as much as Lux is.

Yeah they won't be happy stuffing up the debut of a song.
Enjoyed the show, some great moments but there was a number of times James didn't have the power in his voice that is normally there. Even happened in Lux. Maybe he's not 100% but definitely noticed that with the vocals. Right hand riff machine, strong as ever, great to watch.

He kept coughing off to the side between songs.

Imagine paying a few hundred plus air travel and hotel for that...🙃 I'd be sad.

So was it good or not? I’m Getting mixed signals Watch the Thin Lizzy cover, and maybe the electric re-worked All Within My Hands, aside from that nothing worth watching. The first Helping Hands is still in a league of it's own, and the cover last year of House of the Rising sun wasn't bettered by anything this year.

Is the stream archived anywhere or is this another one of those "watch it for free live but the video version is only available on some paid service" things? The stream was in the middle of the night for me thanks to timezones so I couldn't catch it live.

The stream was in the middle of the night for me thanks to timezones so I couldn't catch it live. They took it down as I was watching it. Really sucks. Some of the songs are uploaded on YouTube. I really like this version of AWMH. Almost wish we had a studio version of it.

That version of AWMH they've been playing for a few years now is not my cup of tea. Was never crazy about the original in the first place. Last night's electric version of that was a snoozer for me as well.
When Whiskey started, I jumped in the shower, then took a walk to smoke a J during intermission, got back half way through Ktulu, didn't miss much.
Lux was cool to see, a little bit of practice to tighten it up and it will rock this summer.
I muted a lot, Sandman, Seek.
Kirk was playing this really nice piece just as I was putting on my coat and I stopped to enjoy, I looked at my wife and said "He's going to start NEM now, watch." And he did LoL. So predictable. She turned to me and was like "And you signed up for 2 nights of this?" I shrugged and said yeah, I did. It's like going to your kids Christmas play at school now, you have to be there, it's your duty, even if you really don't want to 😂
Blackened 2020 -Been there done that. Those 2 new covers were nice 👍 Whiskey I skipped The rest besides Lux 😴😴😴

For a second I thought Kirk was gonna play a solo rendition of High Plains Drifter and got pretty excited.

Looking forward to the two new cover songs and NEM w/ St. Vincent. Already watched AWMH and Lux Aeterna on YouTube.

Yeah, Kirk's High Drifter starting solo, and then the rest of the guys kick in would have been epic and a winner for the night. Sadly, no.

Really liked the set. Thin Lizzy and UFO covers, Whiskey was cool, and of course, Lux Aeterna.
Sloppy, but it's clearly a good live song.
Double bass is still not on point (not even close) and sounded rushed. In a few months it will be tighter, i hope.
Need a new single, ASAP!

This was a unique set, no matter what people say. 2 new fucking covers, an electric-acoustic version of AWMH, first-time acoustic rendition of Whiskey, Harvey, Holier, NEM with St. Vincent, Lux Æterna debut... holy fuck. How first AWMH was more unique? They nearly played the same songs from two Bridge School 2007-2016 concerts with extra instruments.

I watched 2018 live and bought a ticket to 2020 and this blew both of those out of the water. I'd love to hear another show like the 2018 one though with the 8 piece band. I loved that pedal steel doubling Kirk's slide guitar.

They should've done this setlist with Goodnight, Texas. Bonus, Disposable Heroes 2007 was still my favorite because of that 'classical' sound and James' voice.

S&M, AWMH, those new covers. Hell you could even throw Dead Kennedy Rolls on there from those secret gigs.

How first AWMH was more unique? They nearly played the same songs from two Bridge School 2007-2016 concerts with extra instruments. The 2018 show had an expanded band planning the acoustic set, all the performances were amazing, and all the songs except Hardwired (*spew*) were either a) completely unique arrangements for acoustic shows, or b) debuts of acoustic versions. This year, the acoustic set, acoustic performances and new covers were fantastic...but then they went and played Harvester, Holier, Sandman, Seek. Harvester and Holier are strange choices, great songs, deep cuts, but not rare or unique enough to be as special as what was played at that 2018 acoustic set, or something completely out of left field like The House Of the Rising Sun cover. This year felt like a corporate benefit with a special performance by Metallica, playing a few of their classics and a couple of unique songs. The 2018 show felt centered around a special and unique performance by the band and some friends to raise some money for charity. Last year was somewhere in the middle of the two. I'm not saying this year was bad by any stretch, but I listen to the 2018 show all the time in full (except Hardwired), and I don't see myself every coming back to this one. Maybe the 2 new covers but that's where the interest ends for me.

Harvester and Holier than Thou are definitely going in the setlist for the 2 night 72 tour.
