Hetfield doesn't have the voice to do that anymore. Barely did, live, back in the day. It's okay, Rob will sing it now. Stop it!!! I was looking so much forward to spit live, and it's completely unlistenable because of that. What the hell were they thinking. It's cool that Rob sings a little here and there, but it needs to be so damn subtle that you hardly notice. If they have made a banger of a song on this new record and they make Rob sing over some cool part, I swear I will swim over the Atlantic ocean and fuck James up.

It took me forever to get used to Kirk's "I'm angry now!" Back up vocals during the St Anger era, at least before that his mic on stage was more of a visual prop to make him feel included. And Robs choking on marbles approach has drastically improved in recent years but it's still Rob. I eagerly await to hear his efforts on the new album given that he'll have had multiple takes, autotune, some reverb and all that studio magic. But yeah, I'll meet you on the shoreline Kimbo if it truely ruins something special.

Rob really has a distinct voice that isn’t suited for vocal duty. Like at all.

Outside of 72 Seasons the setlists will be limited to KEA-TBA with the occasional Fuel or Memory. No DM or Hardwired.

Hetfield doesn't have the voice to do that anymore. Barely did, live, back in the day. He sounded great when they did it at the acoustic gig a few years back Love ya mate, but disagree. Also, I take back my comment about back in the day. This is a fucking STELLAR vocal performance. Ho-leeeee shyiiiit

They had the balls to advertise the "M72 World Tour" here in Australia in the cinema tonight at the listening party. A bit tone deaf advertising the "world" tour that specifically excludes this region, especially after the cancelled 2019 tour, couldn't help but laugh.

Now with two separate sets they finally have the chance to play some Load-era deep cuts, some St. Anger deep cuts, some HWTSD deep cuts... If they go the easy KEA-Black route with a few of the 90s singles and stuff from the new album, I'm gonna be so disappointed.

Worried I'll smoke all your weed or something? You're automatically included in the cool people from Australia that could use a couch who are welcome here. And I have enough weed for everyone 🥴 so no worries there🥰 now where is your song by song review of 72 Seasons? We are all waiting on it.

First show of the tour is in 10 days! My guess is we're getting 4 songs from 72S a night, and my more bold guess is we'll be getting one song per album per weekend. Since 2019, their sets opened back up (a very small amount but still) and included more Load and St. Anger songs. I'm hoping the 40th shows reinvigorated them on those albums. If Dirty Window was one of the 2022 setlist staples, anything is possible.

I'm mildly curious about how they'll manage two completely different setlists without the crutch of simply playing the entire Black Album in one night like they did at a few no-repeat show pairs last year.
Doing a song from each studio album could work, but the problem is they definitely won't commit to one song from DM, St. Anger, HTSD and the Loads each. That's a lot of setlist space spent on fairly divisive numbers that might go down like a lead balloon with the typical stadium audiences where they've always been very conservative with their sets compared to the arena shows that they're skipping out on entirely this time. Also, over two shows that'd mean, what, Sandman and NEM for Black Album representation? Not a chance in hell.
Plus they're probably gonna do 16 songs and even adding a cover song you're still left with five slots to fill. Ten new ones over two shows? Also no way. At that point you might as well go for six and play the whole thing over two nights, which again would be a terrible idea for stadium shows.
Instead, I propose two songs from the first five albums each, leaving six slots for the Loads, St. Anger, DM, HTSD and 72S, plus covers. Seems balanced to me!

Definitely can't see them representing each album every night. But I'm holding out hope for every weekend. Maybe one DM song on Friday, one HW song on Sunday? I have a feeling Moth Into Flame is still gonna be in rotation this year.

Maybe this is me being cynical but I'm expecting the setlists to be super unexciting. I imagine they'll have two "template" setlists and switch out a few songs for each city. Basically it'll be fun at first but quickly end up very predictable. I hope I'm wrong!

I was debating whether to avoid seeing the setlists, but then again, I'll have to wait to see this tour for another year, since they're coming to Finland in 2024. So it'd be over a year of avoidance, and I know I can't do it. If they'd play Helsinki 2023, I definitely would go unspoiled.

I think the 2024 run will be refreshed slightly. Hopefully 🤞
I'm expecting all the staples spread across the 2 nights. 3-4 new songs each night, plus a deep cut or 2 over each weekend, but at this point are there any deep cuts really left to explore or that would satisfy? Slither? Purify? I think we're good 😉
Lars loves his setlists, so I'm sure this is an extra fun challenge he is enjoying.

Reload and St. Anger could definitely use more love when it comes to the setlists.

I thought it was a perfectly acceptable little mainstream snippet. Nothing wrong at all with it. The show it was is pure trash television here in Australia, like 99% of Australian free-to-air TV. The questions were clearly based on some quick "top 10 Metallica facts" Google search. Making Hetfield do a growling "yeah" like he's a dancing monkey, talking about Kirk being a showoff, etc... Maybe I'm just biased and already cringe even at the thought of our local F grade television personalities interacting with James Hetfield.

There is a reason I didnt tune in...even for a Metallica appearance. I can imagine the questions, + cue Sandman chorus intro / outro
