For me now living in Japan the cost of flights, accomodation etc back to Aus to see Metallica in a stadium with awful sound delay and the band being the size of ants isn’t all that appealing. I’m sure the GA ticket costs will be astronomical too. And I’m not shelling out a grand for snake pit which used to be a free contest only.
I absolutely hate stadium concerts. If it was an arena tour I would have already booked my flights but I’m not spending thousands for an awful experience when they will probably bring that stadium experience to Japan pretty soon too.
On the other hand if they don’t come to Japan and this is their last tour I will regret not seeing them.

The announcements used to include the whole area - Australasia.
I know you weren't living over there for previous tour but do we know last time Metallica toured Japan ? If they have been waiting like Aus /NZ then I can only imagine its the next box to tick by the band.
Totally get your thoughts about the stadium setup - definitely my least preferred choice too - really I would have been shocked if it was any other way. This is why the Snake pit is looking like the best way but I can only do that once and still live with myself. Buying an I Disappear ticket and any flights / accom, etc would make a grand for the Pit seem like good value (I can talk myself into anything if I try hard enough )

Better get that OnlyFans page up and running Ford.
The pit in the regular stage setup would be an awesome way to end your Live Metallica run if we are actually in the last couple pages of the Metallica story.
I missed out on the presale for the show here, I knew my CC didn't really have space on it for tickets, but I tried anyway. I ended up getting in the public sale a week or 2 later after I secured some funds for tickets. Worst seat ever, but I still had fun.

I think last time in Japan was the DM tour too. Not sure if I take the gamble and wait and see if they come here, or just try to do Aus.
You logic seems sound to me, lots to consider!

I should just check online but you aren;t around as much these days - Japan got no visit after our 2013 Soundwave run?
Thanks man!

Thanks man! Did a quick search, last Japan show was August 2013. They have said no more dates will be announced for 2025, so that means definitely no Japan… but surprised they aren’t doing a second show in Melbourne or NZ considering they were going to in 2019 and had the demand then.

Yeah, Melbs always got multiple shows. But they also weren't playing such big shows. Even Adelaide got 2 for DM tour
NZ should be annoyed, not easy to get everyone to Auckland.

The announcement is big news, I don't think I have ever heard Metallica updates being reported on ABC Radio news.
Was funny. "They have not toured here for 12 years. The band is famous for their songs Masters of the Puppets....."
Well, they tried.

The Enhanced Experience prices are out of control, holy shit. I miss the days where you could enter a competition for a meet and greet and a snakepit pass....both of which I have never won, but now its like $4000 AUD to get in the snake pit and take a photo with two band members hahahaha There are still competitions for those things. It's how I ended up on the Snakepit in Munich. www.metallica.com/contests/

Looks like tickets are going to be this “dynamic pricing” bullshit which is why normal ticket prices aren’t listed… we are going to get screwed here I think

In the tour thread Dan said the ticket is the only way to get into the SnakePit. Maybe I misunderstood but I don’t see anything confirming the contest will be running for Aus. Edit: Actually FAQ says they intend to hold Snake Pit content for AU/NZ

Individual Snake Pit tickets are not available for purchase during this leg of the tour. However they are a part of the "Nothing Else Matters" and "Moth Into Flame" Enhanced Experiences at wearesuper.co/metallica. The Fan Club also intends to host contests for Snake Pit Passes as frequently as possible. www.metallica.com/news/2024-10-23-m72-australia-and-new-zealand-2025-faq.htmlSo drop $1000, $4000 or try our luck at a potential future contest

OK I've made my decision, I'm not going back to Aus for these shows. After flights, hotels, etc...it'll be far too expensive for the experience way back in GA or 5 kms away in the seats and I don't want to spend a shitload more on a snakepit experience just to make it worth it. I'd rather head back in the first half of the year to see family/friends as planned, rather than wait till 12 months from now so I can tie a trip back into seeing the band as well.
I'll wait till I can see them in Japan, and if they don't come here then so be it, I've seen them 7 times. Outdoors at the Music Bowl in 04, 5 times on the WM tour up close on the rail, and at Soundwave. Amazing setlists at every show, saw songs I never thought I would and had a ball at every show. Those experiences will be hard to top especially at a stadium for what will end up for me being many many times the cost of my previous shows.
Good luck to you guys who are going - fingers crossed you get the tix you want and win snakepits and meet and greets

Fair and sensible call yep. Particularly the part of delaying your first visit back.
Like you said, you've had plenty of great shows and a stadium at major cost is unlikely to trump any of them.
Fingers crossed Japan gets some focus after they get us out the way 🙂

If they are doing Asia I have to imagine they're doing it next year? China and South Korea also haven't gotten shows since 2017, and it's a little strange Japan was skipped over then.

Good call yepsure. While it’s always great watching the boys perform, it’s nothing special anymore. The new stage setup is the worst ever, the setlists are pretty boring, we’ve seen all the songs performed before, only the 72s songs are somewhat interesting.
I haven’t dished out a big amount to see them perform in, 10+ years, and the only thing that would ever get me to travel anywhere would be a show so speciel that I would be given the opportunity to write the set list myself.
If they are in town I will check them out but that’s it.

I got my snakepit ticket.
Wow. My hands are still shaking.
I thought I was all ready to go but I had Tickmaster password ready not Ticketek. So with 4min 30s left on my countdown clock I had to create a new password. Rejected. You need 12 characters...fuck. Done. I'm in. Go to payment and kept telling me my card number was incorrect. Retype. Rejected. Fuck. You needed to tick the Visa button...done.
Man, that shit is stressful.
At 11.00am when everything opened I was already nearly #700 in the virtual queue. That number dropped real fast - faster than anybody could buy a ticket online. Within 5-10 seconds I was #34, and then in. I am curious how that all works behind the scenes but whatever, I gotta say every time I have done this type of thing through Metallica site it has always been quick and successful. It's just the stress, FOMO and anxiety beforehand that makes it feel like its all gonna fall apart and you're gonna be left without

Congrats mate, sounds stressful. Ticket corporations are up there with airlines and real estate agent in terms of worst ever groups to deal with.
There are like 20 different corporate presale events for these shows it’s crazy… then you have all the queues and dynamic price manipulation, we the consumers and fans get screwed every time

Yep, legacy. I recall only certain options for other tours buying as a metclubber, so I don't think that's unusual. (Gotta say 4 seated tix I bought for one of the DM shows I went to were pretty average considering I had first dibs.....I didnt mind so much as I had already had great spots at previous shows but I felt bad for the 3 friends I had bought for...they all could have done just as well if not better on their own)

I worked from home so I could focus and not be interrupted (or freak the fuck out in front of coworkers when I miss out) Its all so difficult now. You are paying big dollar and its like you enter a lottery with nobody onsite to help you if something goes wrong or you have a query. Another one for the Good ol Days list. I remember lining up at some crazy hour in the dark at a ticketbox with dozens of other metalheads, some with acoustics, some with Jim Beam, most with weed. I reckon that was still the way for the Load era shows from memory.

We shall see, Im just grateful Im there. Some disappointed people over there, missing out on what they want, sites fucking up their purchases, or getting the experience but not in their home state. Feel for some of them. Wouldnt want to be Dan in there, he labelled himself Director of Managing Expectations 😄 I found that funny.
