Yeah this is a good live song. I love that one. I forget it exists though sometimes because when ever I'm like "Hey Google! Play 72 Seasons!" It always cuts out SS because I guess it is blocked with age restriction on YouTube. I never notice while it's playing, only after my workout or whatever I'm like hey, something feels like it's missing, then I'm like oh yeah, Screaming Suicide.

The breakdown after the solo is still honestly one of the coolest moments on the album.

I know I'm just speaking as someone following stuff online, but I'm very bored of the setlists for this tour. Always knew the No Repeat concept would lead to two nearly identical setlists every weekend but it's so predictable now. Open with Creeping Death one day, Whiplash the other. One day has Orion and the other has Ktulu. The days of World Magnetic spicing it up so frequently are over, but it would be nice with some more variety. I meant to respond to this but totally forgot. What sucks is that they get *close* to it being fun to follow. They pulled out Cyanide, I Disappear, Of Wolf and Man, Dirty Window, and several other deeper cuts in those #3-4 slots, but they ended up choosing to mostly play Leper Messiah and King Nothing. And every so often (I think twice?) they swapped Creep/Harvy and Whiplash/Bellz between nights. If they switched things like that up a little more often, things would get more interesting quickly.

This is dumb but Lars referenced My Apocalypse in an Instagram post yesterday and I'm thinking, why are you not pulling that out live?
Sure it's not the best DM song, but I'd love to hear a 2024 version of that.
Or any DM song that's not Day/Cyanide, really.

Kinda surprised that no new dates have come out. Maybe after Seattle/before Mexico? I figured they’d be back on the road by March or April in SA or Aus.

Same but I'm kinda hoping that it's because the Load box is going to be announced soon and they want all media focus (and fans' wallets.....) on that

You think the 72 Run is done? Maybe a couple shows in Australia and another pair in wherever, but that might just be it. I think the days of years of touring off an album is done.
Load box Charity acoustic show Holiday until Spring Handful of shows to end the 72 run Break August 2025 residence in Vegas More break Release of Garage 3 Xmas 2025 With small indoor 10 date split between EU and NA. Winter 2026...

Even though we don’t get to follow setlists the same way anymore, my mood is still like 5% better on average when they’re on tour lol
The tour videos and posts about what’s happening gives an extra little bump every weekend. Also the childish lil whimsy in my head that they might play a rare song (to their credit they do every few weeks).

Kind of hope 72S is over and we move on.
I wish they'd play Room of Mirrors though.

2.5 month gap between last 72 show and AWMH charity show. Enough time to practice a handful of new acoustic songs and something "New" new, to premier that night, and announce that they've recorded these song and are releasing Garage days the mini unplugged E.P. as soon as the show is over with. A portion of the profits going to AWMHs charity, and right in time for Xmas as a less pricey option than the also new Load boxset for that Metallica fan in your life.
😉 Wishful thinking.

I think the new tour dates is the first time a band ever announced dates, and I was pissed because they *are* coming close to me. Give Aus/NZ their tour ffs

Not that I'm surprised, but another year of M72 setlists sounds like a snoozefest.

Give Aus/NZ their tour ffs The full announcement on their site actually ends with a mini-announcement that they will also be touring in Aus/NZ with dates to be announced "VERY soon." I imagine that got added last second because even my first reaction was "seriously?" when I read that the tour would get extended with more North American dates and no Australia in sight. Still, couldn't they have just announced those dates at the same time as the NA ones?

Hardwired would be 10!

Hot damn, Toronto in April. No way I could cough up the cash for that and the travel expenses, but damn it's tempting to try.
So what do you think, were these dates initially planned, or the final numbers for M72 tour weren't good enough and they decided to throw a few more in.

I’m guessing they want as much return on this stage as they can get, considering how massive it is. Interesting how they strategically chose some markets to be one show. That would’ve never jived with the initial image of the tour, so it makes sense to save those for later.

The stage couldn't have cost that much, probably peanuts compared to the Load stage or Hardwired. All it is is a bunch of metal walkways and some big stupid screens.

For the cities that only have 1 night, you think they will cram all the 72 songs into one night? Or play an hour longer and drop one of the opening acts?

Too Far Gone and You Must Burn was soundchecked in Mexico last night. It seems like they’re at least trying to switch the 72S songs from weekend to weekend.

They’ll definitely play the same length as other shows, and the singles have two openers still as per the poster. I just really really hope they don’t feel obligated to play Sandman, Sad, NEM, One, Puppets, and Seek every show. I just learned Syracuse is a Saturday, but it’s the first show of the tour (besides one festival). Putting myself as a big maybe for that one.

And just like that, the original M72 Tour is over. Crazy how it feels so long since that original announcement.
Cool to see them bring back Too Far Gone and You Must Burn for Mexico night 4. TFG was a complete trainwreck for Kirk. I hope we get a couple new 72S songs next year, but it also seems like they’re settling into the songs they like playing the most. Shadows Follow seems to be the band favorite?

Does this count? I love how much James likes playing it. Yup, that's great. Instantly more enjoyable. Was watching some other recent clip with the regular 72 stage and it just felt like they were there to play the national anthem and decided to play a few songs (day time, not dark, way to big stadium etc)
