I got pretty close to the stage and it is huge, half the concert only Rob or Kirk walked to that side. Luckily when blackened started Lars was infront of me and I could really hear the raw sound of the drums. People were too calm for my taste but still awesome show.

Night two done. It was better than the first one. Setlist was fucking dope! Started again with a bang: Whiplash into Bells into Ride into Until. Other fun ones included Ktulu, Roam and Moth. Even a song like TDTNC which I'm not a huge fan of sounded fun and fresh live. 72S sounded good live, but it's a bit long. Didn't really like Darkness. Shadows Follow kicked ass though!
Altogether a great, great show. The band seemed to be a bit more loose and clicking better. Lars was great again, the old fucker has been practicing!
A great weekend. But as always after a gig, I'm done with Metallica for a while - and even if this was to be the last show I saw them play, I'd be okay. But I think they'll just keep on going.
Setlist: Whiplash For Whom the Bell Tolls Ride the Lightning Until It Sleeps 72 Seasons If Darkness Had a Son The Day That Never Comes Shadows Follow The Call of Ktulu The Unforgiven Wherever I May Roam Battery Moth Into Flame One Enter Sandman

Lars has been on fire this leg, that video of puppets in the rain was nearly flawless. Has he been practicing, playing with a click etc? Any confirmation on any of that?
Glad you had a great time. I really Hope Shadows Follow is the song that sticks around for years to come.

I love that they are rotating TDTNC alongside Fade and Sanitarium now. Well deserved.

Hopefully, they will have played all of the remaining songs from 72 Seasons (and Hardwired too!) by the end of this year. Or am I getting my hopes way too up?

If we’re lucky they’ll play Room of Mirrors next leg, but I'd bet they never play Chasing Light live because of the vocals. I can see them playing Crown at some point, but if they’re being this safe with the setlist I doubt they’ll rotate in the two least popular 72 Seasons songs. They might be saving something for M72 2025 too. Edit: I remember Lars, mentioned in an interview how he was bummed they never played all the Hardwired songs, so I’m taking it as still a chance of hearing Savage live.

The Rob and Kirk doodle was pointless and bad, as usual. Why do they keep doing them, I really don't know. Vocal break for James and shoulder break for Lars. I do wish they'd go back to the solos idea though. Rob's 'Junglessence"' from the SA tour was always fun

I can't stand long guitar solo's but I very much enjoy a good drum and or bass solo. I miss some of that loose stuff. I can understand that it's a tight script they are following with the intro's, stagesetup and whatnot, but I often find it way too planned out. I recently watched some of the Record store day concert, it's so much more fun than a standard gig. And I bet they enjoy those shows a lot more aswell.

I think it's time they add Anesthesia to the setlist as a staple for awhile. Hell, give Rob a whole bass solo before it too. Or go back to when him and Kirk played snippets of songs during the early Worldwired tour. I remember they jammed I Disappear at my show, and it was infinitely cooler than a weird cover or a riff we didn't know.

Also Kirk had some lovely clean stuff at times, much more interesting than the metal shredding.

Yeaaahhhh... That's a really cool setlist. Hit the Lights, No Leaf Clover, Fight Fire With Fire and Breadfan - I would've traded most songs from the Helsinki setlists to any of those.

Bring back cool covers! Turn the Page and Whiskey are so worn out. Lol I’d kill to see Turn the Page live. I feel like they play that one just enough so it doesn’t disappear, but it’s pretty rare now. I think Breadfan, Evil, and Whiskey are the only ones I’ve gotten to see.

I've seen Turn the Page live once, in 2009 during the World Magnetic tour in Helsinki. I cried like a baby.
The setlist was:
That Was Just Your Life The End of the Line For Whom the Bell Tolls No Remorse One Broken, Beat & Scarred Cyanide Sad but True Turn the Page All Nightmare Long The Day That Never Comes Master of Puppets Fight Fire With Fire Nothing Else Matters Enter Sandman Helpless [preceded by "The Frayed Ends of Sanity" jam] Trapped Under Ice Seek & Destroy [with "Wasting My Hate" outro]

I’ve seen a lot less shows than I thought lol. Currently at 39, I was sure I was north of fifty. Hmm. I must have forgotten some.

Wow ipom.com is straight up old internet gold. It (along with this forum) reminds me of the old days before the internet became a corporate, ad algorithm manipulated dystopia. I'll get registered in the next couple of days and post my stats.

Old internet gold is a perfect descriptor. One of my all time favorite sites is dmbalmanac.com for Dave Matthews Band for the same reason. A huge reason I got so into them over the last few years is because of this site and just how hard the fandom goes with setlisting, like we do here with Metallica lol
