They finally debuted Shadows Follow live this weekend. Amazing Burn Very very good Crown Too Far Gone Very good Inamorata Room of Mirrors Alright Shadows Follows 72 Seasons Darkness Boring Lux Suicide Sleepwalk Awful Chasing Lights Honestly, I haven’t heard Lux or Suicide in full since the movie premiere. Only live in concert. Chasing Lights is still a train wreck to my ears. Every single song has flaws and good parts. I don’t listen to the album much but when I do I enjoy most of it. lol your ears are broken Amazing Chasing Light Awful You must Burn fixed it for you.

Chasing Light is still one of the best IMO. It has this very uncomfortable deranged vibe before it kicks into overdrive. The S&R happy riff in the middle kind of teases you into a false sense of safety before having another mental breakdown, I love it.
You Must Burn is also top tier. It brings me down this lonely road of thoughts in a good way.
I find this album to be very introverted in that it's not something I want to put on to share with others, but something I prefer to keep to myself in my own little bubble with headphones on a walk or something.

I haven't listened to the album or a song from it in about 2 months now. Alot of the album sounds like a jam/demo a la the presidio sessions.

I see the similarities, although I think Now That We're Dead is more successful in what it tries to do. It's a simple riff but one of my favorites on that album. Sleepwalk to me falls off a cliff during the middle section whereas NTWD maintains the groove the whole time. Sleepwalk does have a cool intro though. Agreed. It’s by far the superior song. One of their most groovy songs ever.

Seems like Screaming Suicide might not be the live song they were thinking it would be. It was the first single dropped from an M72 weekend.

SS is still a song I really dig. Works great live IMO. I'd rather they ditch Darkness And I'm glad they rotated out Burn. Those 2 are great, but really bring the live energy down.

Burn was still played this weekend, and imo it was one of the best new ones. Not a lot of singing along, but people were really moving during the Sabbath-y breakdown. Very happy that Suicide and Sleepwalk were voted off the island.

I’m still loving this album. My favourites are still 72 Seasons, Shadows Follow, You Must Burn, Lux Aeterna, Crown of Barbed Wire, If Darkness Had a Son, and Innamorata.
The least favourites are still Screaming Suicide, Sleepwalk, Chasing Light.
I don’t love Too Far Gone and Room of Mirrors as much as others seem too; the harmony sections in both are really great but as full complete songs I don’t enjoy them as much as the favourites I listed. Nor would a put them in the same batch as the 3 songs I like the least.
Even with the songs I consider my least favourites, I still don’t hate any of them and like them considerably more than the songs I don’t like from Hardwired, DM, St. Anger and Reload.
I’m pretty comfortable locking in that this is my favourite Metallica album since Load.

I kinda agree with most, but DM is to me the far best album since Load. 72S is a clear second though.

Huh funny how musical tastes go. As of today, I think I would consider DM to be their 2nd worst album ever. (St.Anger being the worst)

I played 72 Seasons for the first time in about 2 months and each song got a little louder. I used the vinyls so was out of order which made me realise I have the riffs and melodies in my head but takes me a while to work out what song I am listening to. Kinda like that as someone who knows their other material inside out. I'm sure it wont last so will enjoy the surprise element for a bit longer. Shadows Follow is moving up my Fav list and Too Far Gone is still right up there for me. Lux has dropped down to Sleepwalk level.

I think Hardwired is thier best (from the three last releases). The songs sound natural.
Death Magnetic sounds copy/paste and is the worst of the three.
Almost every song on 72seasons is waaaay too long, especially the intro.

I love how Shadows Follow is a 3/10 mediocre song but it has maybe the best breakdown of all time. That's why I can't stop listening to it.

I don't know what's up with that one, like you said, it's not the greatest song ever, but there is just something great about it that drives it. That groove kicks ass and keeps me coming back.

The breakdown is reeeeally cool, very old school feeling and James sounds amazing. Rest is meh Actually. I love that they are creating new music but I have a feeling that this album will loose it’s staying power with me completely very soon. And I’ve not even heard it that much. I feel it’s a better album than HW, but HW was spinning in my head for a long time and I could play the songs both on drums and guitar. I knew them well. I still cannot reeealy tell the songs from each other on 72S. One thing is for certain, DM is miles and miles better than them both combined.

I think they could take best 3-4 songs from each of the DM, HTSD, 72, record them with some killer production (probably hire Bob Rock to do the job), make some tweaks here and there and that would most likely make top 2 Metallica album for me.
