What’s a little thing everyone is hoping for with this album? I just thought how HTSD didn’t have any Hetfield solos (except for the middle or Dead which treads the line of solo). S&R and Bullet were two of the best solos from the DM era, I’d love to hear him do one or two again.

A proper ballad. And would also like to hear James growl in studio for a little bit like he does live on Harvester of Sorrow.

S&R and Bullet were two of the best solos from the DM era, I’d love to hear him do one or two again. I want some simple songs, maybe one slow and heavy song, like Bells, Harvester, Sad and some mid tempo rockers like many of Black/Load. Songs based around one or two riffs with a simple 4x4 beat in the background (background being the key word Lars). They sort of tried on Hardwired with songs like Now That We’re Dead and Am I Savage but they fell short IMO. Mainly because, like lots of their songs for the last 20 years, they cram a million different sections, riffs and vibes in and they sound disjointed and clearly so pieced together. I don’t think it’ll happen based on all current reads of the band. I’m just getting warn out on their template of a complex intro, 2 verses 2 choruses then an interlude which is often a left field disjointed riff section to join it to the solo, which transitions back into the last chorus, then throw in a disjointed slow section, repeat the chorus another 2 times then complex outro. That’s a long way of saying I want variety and more simplicity in arrangements.

Why are there no skulls on the cover? Has Pushead retired?

Still on average it's going to be over 6 and a half minutes per song. Unless one of the song is like 20 minutes a'la Junior Dad . But I wouldn't count on that.

Less snare fills, more toms. More layered backing vocals.

More dual guitar harmonies. My dream scenario is another instrumental with a huge melodic section similar to Orion/To Live is to Die/Suicide & Redemption. I'm not counting on it though.

- A proper ballad with ACOUTSTIC guitars - More heavy songs like Sad/Harvester/Devils Dance - A Hetfield solo - An instrumental - In genereal more simple songs, in the way Yep Sure explained it - Better production than Lux - More mix up in the tempo, drumwise. Do more quater of halftime drumming when possible - Les snare, more toms - More grit from Hetfield

Similar to above, Id love to hear some acoustic in parts and twin guitar harmonies. Tom fills without going all Now that Were Dead. I love all their instrumentals, so hope there are more to come. Any Portals/Kirk influence is very welcome.

To live is to Die, asides from the pretty parts is extremely boring. Ktulu is ok, a bit long winded. S&R is second place under Orion IMO. It's just beautiful and fantastic. It has such an energy and vibe.

The middle section of To Live Is To Die is one of the best pieces of music they have ever written, it’s just sandwiched in the middle of the same boring riff being played for 7 mins. It’s such a shame. Although I love the intro/outro too. S&R has a nice middle section and a nice Het solo but it doesn’t hit the high of the TLITD. In my opinion both Ktulu and Orion are in a league of their own, and they are the only two instrumentals I really listen to of the four. My confidence of the band delivering an instrumental of that quality is low, but would love to be wrong.

The new song is ok but one thing I can't figure out is how the lyrics fit into the whole "72 Seasons" concept. Is it about being an energetic angsty teen? Maybe it's about heavy metal in general as it was a huge part of their life growing up but the lyrics could've been a little less generic in my opinion.

Maybe it's about heavy metal in general as it was a huge part of their life growing up but the lyrics could've been a little less generic in my opinion. James : "There's been a lot of darkness in my life and in our career and things that have happened with us, but always having a sense of hope, always having the light that is in that darkness, and without darkness, there is no light, and being able to focus a little more on the light in life instead of all of the... how it used to be and how horrible it is. There's a lot of good things going on in life, focusing on that instead, and it helps to balance out my life. And there's no one meaning to it, you know, everyone has some sense of hope or light in their life, and, obviously, music is mine. And the song specifically talks about gathering of people at a concert and able to see the joy and the life and the love that comes out of music and the family and the kinship in that, and just a sense of uplifting."

I adore Suicide & Redemption. The ending drags a bit but I love pretty much the whole song. And yeah it really shows off how good Hetfield is at soloing. That and Just a Bullet Away have some of my favorite solos.

I love S&R too. I dont find that longwinded at all. Same for TLITD.
And certainly not for Ktulu Sicjes!
I love them all as they are, Orion being #1 (unless I change my mind and go back to TLITD as their best)

The songs are just way better of course. Cliff's composing when it comes to those instrumentals is sorely missed for TLITD and S&R.

I knew what he was referencing due to watching the humorous drama unfold on here. I figured it was directed at me since it was following my reply on this thread. Considering that this individual has created many an account to persistently hound these boards with tirades, I don't blame the skepticism. A bit futile and pointless to try to convince that I ain't him, but "irregardless", I ain't him. However, for the right price, I COULD be him for you if that's what you need. Daddy needs a new graphics card, and they ain't getting any cheaper.
