Also James singing "Lux Aeternaaaaaa!!!" sounds exactly like in Sabbra Cadabra "You know she makes me feel alright!".
I am hearing "Its electriiic"

Cover art, dislike. Why is everything bright yellow?! Wil have to get used to it, we're going to see "M72" on everything from Whiskey to Beach towels for the next 8 years. And lastly...two years of tour dates announced, and nothing for Australia. Very disappointing, not even an acknowledgement that they haven't rescheduled the WW dates yet let alone that they completely excluded us from the M72 tour as well.
These 2 points..... i thought the same, M72, I can already see it stencilled on everything. But they are "clever" like that, always thinking along those lines.
I saw they said 2 years on the road, but only saw dates up to somewhere near end of 2023.
So Australia not featured in 2024 ?? That is very disappointing if thats the case.

Also, the 2 night deal, get a 2 night ticket, I'm guessing they'll be around $500 a piece given the state of things in the business these days, that is freaking crazy... I might have to return that XBOX I got my kid for Christmas... I'll give him a hug instead. JK. Fuck that, I can't imagine shelling out that kind of money to see a few new songs, and MOP for the millionth time. I'm just going to pretend I live in Australia this time around. I'll never beat watching from the Snake Pit last time, may as well end my live Metallica experience on a high note.

I have very conflicting feelings about all of this...
To me, the song is painfully bland, just a lazy recycled Hit The Lights riff, some short verses with a very punk-pop sounding melody, an atrocious solo, a very boring drumming and pretty obvious Garage Inc-ish doubled autotuned vocals at the chorus.
Another let down is the mix/mastering... It's just like HW, just with tighter guitars and with the snare taken down a little bit. The bass is pretty much buried under all of it.
In the end, it just feels like they didn't care to put any effort doing this song. It's just pure comfort zone, which is a complete shame after 7 years.
On the other hand, I kinda like the complete rupture of the album art, and the odd song names sound interesting and very un-Metallica to me. Maybe this could be some sort of concept album, or a very diverse one. I just hope this is the weakest song.

To put it in fewer words: to me this song is worse than the worse song from HW.

Not feeling confident, what a bummer The FAQs say they will not be playing any extra headlining shows in the 2023 and 2024 outside of what was announced. Dan said on the other forums that apparently they tried to get us for early 2023 but couldn’t get it done, “fingers crossed for 2025” is the only hope we have to see them in Aus apparently.

Nah Mate, nothing is worse than Murder 1.
I wonder if we'll get a video for every song again.
I imagine the next single will show up around Xmas with some new merch. Hopefully the next one is something much more melodic. This song would have benefited from having the main twangy hook harmonized throughout, give it some weight. It feels very empty or lacking at the moment. Flat.
I'm sure live it'll be all kinds of fun and full of energy.
Feels like Dead Kennedy Rolls or Volturuse quality wise. I guess we're at the point now where they're just happy to have fun with minimal work put in, and that's perfectly okay.

Yep, just been reading what I can find on the other forums....2025, previous gigs were 2013 and festival shows....bit shit.
I didnt see Dans comment about trying to get here for 2023. So whats the issue? Where and why does it break down at this point?

I just saw that on Jan 20 there will be an amount of 1 day tickets available, and the Pantera thing is coming here for night one. There may be hope for me.
But What the actual fuck, they're selling Snake pit passes now, and screwing you for double the price wether you can be there for both nights. I know the pandemic has put the business in a pickle, but in these times when everyone is scraping by, they're gonna milk this for all it's worth.

Who cares about the tour? 3/4 of all the sonngs are from before 91. Then they'll choose a shitty song from St Anger. Moth into flame from Hardwired and maybe Lux Aeterna.

I hate this with a freaking passion, you cannot compare buying concert tix with hotel rooms. Fucking hell
Face Value Price
The face value price (also known as the established price or base ticket price) is determined by our clients. In many circumstances, face value prices are set at the time of the initial on-sale and stay the same until the event but prices can, and are often are, adjusted up or down over time. In either case, Ticketmaster collects the face value price and remits it to our clients.
In some instances, events on our platform may have tickets that are “market-priced,” so ticket and fee prices may adjust over time based on demand. This is similar to how airline tickets and hotel rooms are sold and is commonly referred to as “Dynamic Pricing.”

I really like the song, it’s got an 80’s Kill Em All vibe to it. Yes it’s a bit bland, but I’m sure we’ll get more complex tunes on the album.
Also worth remembering these guys are in their late 50s now. They’re 40 years into their careers. The fact they’re still creating new music and touring is a minor miracle. Nothing they create in 2022 is going to top their best albums, but it’s still head and shoulders above most of the other rock and metal that gets churned out by younger bands these days.

Nah Mate, nothing is worse than Murder 1. I don't know... As bad as Murder One is, it seems to me that they put a little more effort making it compared to Lux Aeterna. At least they tried to make a new groove instead of a generic Kill'em All b side. I guess we're at the point now where they're just happy to have fun with minimal work put in, and that's perfectly okay. To me this is far from ok, but I get your point. They don't have to prove anything to anyone at this point. It just doesn't work to me as a fan, but that's only me. I hope the rest of the album prove me wrong tough.

I like the song but remember when they released Hardwired as first single and that song was made in the last minute, maybe this is the case too. There are probably some really good songs. And the album art is horrible cant see myself wearing a bright yellow shirt with random objects on it. Hardwired album art I didnt mind and DM also looked cool but this is the first one I hate.

Opinions are funny.
I am loving Lux Aeterna, it's a throw back but done in a modern way. It pumps me up the way Hit The Lights and many Kill em All tracks do, and has similar lyrics but a layer or two deeper. The solo is garbage and the production is super..."perfect" and modern and lifeless like their last two albums, but still the song overall is fun. Even though I'm loving it now, in 2-3 years when hype is long gone I can see this being a song I come back to.
Hardwired, on the other hand, sounds as forced and as stock as it comes. Like a song we all wrote in our bedrooms as teenagers complete with try hard edgy lyrics like "we're so fucked, shit outta luck", and people fucking love that song. I don't get how people like it. I actually dislike listening to it. I hated it the first time I heard it and I hate it now, it's among the worst in their catalogue. yet some people like that and hate Lux Aeterna... I just dont get it.
Also the video is so shit. My god it's just them miming to the song with some blue flashing lights...wtf is this? Even the Hardwired videos were better and they were very bland.
The album artwork is terrible...not quite as bad as Hardwired but pretty fucking close. I can't believe we have to look at bright yellow Metallica marketing for the next 10 years. If this is yet another throwback album like the last two, especially to the early 80's like this song is, why don't they make art that matches? I don't understand their vision a lot of the time...the last, what, 6 albums now , have artwork is that is baffling. I thought St. Anger's was good, but Load, Reload, DM, HW, and now this seem just way off base from the music.

I hated Hardwired but I much prefer it to this. Opinions are indeed funny, because I agree with everything else you said. Also, Garage Inc and both S&M artwork designs være ugly has hell too.

First time listening to HW I had a shit eating grin from ear to ear, wanting to break and smash things in the lobby of the McDonald's I ran to for free WiFi, even if it wasn't the greatest song ever. For this song it was more like "Oh, sounds like some cover song I'm really not interested in."
It's been on repeat in my head since yesterday even though I'm not too fond of it, because I have Metallica on the brain now as I scramble to figure the whole tickets, and take in the info dump from yesterday.
The 2 night deal is awesome, 2 different sets, so I guess they'll have a good handful of new songs to switch out, plus the usual songs to rotate, I'm just surprised that it's not an outdoor show (here at least) with an updated version of that huge stage they invested in. Actually, I'm not. I know why. The touring business is in a real mess because of gas prices and the post pandemic money crunch, so I'm sure this was the general round table tour discussion. "We need to make maximum profit, for as little effort we can. That big stage we just built, fuck it, put it in storage, you'll play in the round, that's 5 trucks instead of 20. We'll stay 2 nights in a minimum number of cities, and make the kids buy tickets for both nights for $350 nosebleed seats or $500 for floor tickets. We'll change the sets for each night so the kids feel it's a fare trade. If they can afford an iPhone, they can afford the special gold pass enhanced scary guy stick this banana with the Metallica logo sticker on it up your ass deluxe VIP experience for $2000." "You know they're going to freak out and complain" "They always do, but we need to make up for 3 years of lost profits. What if we hold a few hundred single night tickets and tell them they might have a chance after the holidays if they get money from Santa."

I love the song!! but the solo sucks. Seems Kirk didn't put any effort in it. The riff is generic and boring. Seems James didn't put any effort in it. The drums are sloppy and boring. Seems Lars didn't put any effort in it. The bassline sounds uninspired. Seems like Rob didn't put any effort in it. The artwork is really ugly and not metal at all. Seems like the artdirector didn't put any effort in it. But I'm not complaining, like I said: I love it!!!! Metallica rulezz!!!

I had to login again after some years off the forums. But this was a funny surprise. I like the production of this, and can't wait to hear all the songs!
One thing I noticed that I think they do way too much on the modern metallica songs, is the transition riff at 2:53 - 2:57. That is super boring to me. But I really think this is exciting!

The good thing to me is that the artwork being so different may hint to a stylistic change, like it was from TBA to load, and from Reload to St. Anger. And if there is some change in this new album, maybe Lux Aeterna is the only recycled riff song in it. There's hope, to me at least.
