Would've never expected this, but it's super welcome! Drumming is Jon Theodore from The Mars Volta & QOTSA as well as Abraham Laboriel of Paul McCartney's touring band. Fidelman is playing bass, and Bob Rock also contributed in some form. I'm glad it seems like a fully produced project as opposed to a more home recording-based thing. It should be cool!

This actually sounds pretty amazing, new music in April, I love everything soundtrackish as far horror vibes goes. Some of the best parts of goth metal /black metal albums are all those 2 minute symphonic movements between The main songs.
Looking forward to this if it is full of keyboards and dark atmospheres. Way better than just 4 minutes of wah soloing backed by some random drumming.

I'm happy Kirk is able to release this and have a creative outlet. I often feel bad for him and Rob for not being able to contribute with new music very often.

Here's the clip his interview is talking about. Based on the musicians he's working with, I have to imagine this is more of a "demo" sound than anything. But it's a cool progression. Doesn't really go anywhere but I have to imagine the full version will fix that.

Excited for this....and its nice to be excited about something.
Next best thing to hearing the Goblin-esque material the band was working on.

Are they going to kick him out of Metallica too now? Is Lars upset about Napster in 2022?
There's your answer.

I think Bob Rock mixed it which should mean it'll sound great. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Rock only mixed St. Anger out of all the Metallica albums he did. Not saying it sounds bad, getting past the snare and questionable guitar tones, the actual leveling is great on that album.

Not sure about TBA, but you are correct that all the others where mixed by Randy Staub/Mike Fraser.

I think the Black Album was passed around to so many hands the truth about the production is a little grey. I read once they spent something like a million bucks just on the post-production after it was all recorded.

I think Bob Rock mixed it which should mean it'll sound great. He did. But have you heard Offspring’s latest? Bob produced and mixed it, and it sounds like absolute shit.

Holy shit, that had to be one of the most impressive pieces of music to ever come out of the Metallica camp. Totally caught me off guard. It's exactly what I was hoping for, but was expecting way less quality than that. I cannot grasp the fact that that is Kirk. WTF? Sounds like a lot of other mystical metal stuff I'm into. Never in my wildest dreams did I think Kirk could pull something like this off. The creeping deathish DIE part in the middle is great.
Wow. This is so cool. Did he have other people write this? AI or something LoL. 1000% perfect. When do I wake up and realize that this is just a dream?
