My favorite album by far is Reload, since it was the first new album Metallica released after I found them. Which album I think is the best... Well now, that's a tough one. It changes pretty much day to day, but basically it's a really close race between AJFA and Black. Today, I'm going to say AJFA. Maybe.
But yeah, I'm going with the literal interpretation of the topic, and answer Reload.

For my favorite Metallica album, I have to say Death Magnetic, for multiple reasons: -Cyanide is the first metallica song I ever heard and without this song I would've never gotten into this band -All Nightmare Long is my favorite Metallica song, ever. -The whole thing just kicks major ass. As for which album I think is the best, I have to go with AJFA or Load. Those two albums were there most talented point, musically. That's how I judge this. But I prefer Death Magnetic to those, because it's my favorite. And that's the one I voted for. |

I almost voted for RTL, for it was the first Metallica album that I ever heard, but Master of Puppets is just so well-balanced and well-written.

I voted Load. It's the one that I have the most emotional connection too so even though I was already a fan when Justice came out and anticipated the release of TBA it was Load that hit me in the sweet spot of fandom.

And I wouldn't shit on St. Anger. It's definitely not their worst.

I voted for Load, its a hard choice, but for me it felt right.
I can put Load on anytime and it makes me feel good. There is so much going on on Load on an emotional level. Its just fantastic. It was the first album I had to wait for, I met James and Jason on that tour at a meet and greet, the summer it came out was a great time in my life, etc.
The music is so rich on Load. I don't care that its not Metal, it speaks to me on a deeper level then Puppets or Justice and the others.
