This set is an odd mix of random rarities and random most known singles/signature songs

Day is great but I was hoping for a DM song we haven't heard in a while. That Was Just Your Life, The End of the Line etc.

If they play new song after hardwired slot that will be even more badass than fixxxer. Also, no Jason this time?

And now, Deep Thoughts, with James Hetfield.

Aside from the one crazy debut, this a pretty tame set compared to what they were playing at normal shows on the St. Anger and DM tours. A little underwhelmed if I'm being honest.
EDIT: We got spoiled on those tours, and the 30th Anniversary shows would be impossible to beat...but this doesn't feel like much of a celebration, rather a standard set with a couple of curve balls thrown in (aside from Fixxxer). Sorry not trying to be negative...but kinda feel sorry for those that forked out the cash and dealt with all the COVID drama to get to this show in person.

Yeah, need a couple more wows in this set to make history. If they just close with Seek after a Hardwired track...😣

Spit Out the Bone... This isn't the last song, right? Maybe, but we might get Seek next and that'll be it.

last studio released song... How many songs so far? 16 songs, which is the new standard, so odds of this being it are high.

Playing the songs chronologically is a nice idea for a celebration and builds up anticipation for the next thing. I think that's my main takeaway from this show. Everything outside of Fixxxer felt like a relatively standard Metallica set. The performances were a bit hit or miss - neither James nor Lars were in top form.
I was much more engaged in the second half of the show at least. The 80s stuff just doesn't get me excited anymore, unless they somehow decide to play Eye of the Beholder on Sunday.

I did enjoy the lot but get what you are saying... Trapped under ice...great inclusion with Spit and Fixxxer...also Orion New songs tomoz...has to be. Wow. Fucking incredible night. The only real drag for me was Sad/NEM just because I've had no shortage of them live, especially them being back to back. If I were a betting man, I'd say they'll go in reverse order tomorrow and close with Seek. Would really love to see some Jason + MFOM but I get that Covid definitely limits their desire to fly in a bunch of people, rehearse with them, etc.
And yeah. Fucking Fixxxer. I've wanted to see them to play a song for the first time ever since I became a fan. And for it to be THAT. Wowee. James was noticeably annoyed with himself after since he commented on why they've never played it live. But that's a tough one to sing live. I can't actually think of another Metallica song that stays that consistently high.

My outmost respect to James for singing that. That couldn't have been easy.
Wow, to think we finally got to hear it live. :D

He uses that same register (technique?) on Memory Remains, Dream No More, and for the last decade or so Sandman...not a fan of when he does sing like that. I think Fixxxer would have benefited greatly from a different approach, but instrumentally it was pretty good.
Prediction for the next one...if in a similar album order:
Whiplash Bells Fade Puppets Thingy / Leper Blackened Harvester Sandman Roam Bleeding Me / Outlaw Memory Turn The Page All Within My Hands (acoustic) Cyanide Hardwired Seek
Or if they reverse up the order
Hardwired Cyanide St. Anger All Within My Hands (acoustic) Whiskey In The Jar Fuel Bleeding Me / Outlaw Sandman Unforgiven Blackened Harvester Leper Messiah Master of Puppets Fade To Black Bells Seek

They should've just tuned Fixxxer down a whole step.

Well, that was a boring set. Even Fixxxer couldn't save it. James' age starts to show it through his voice.
