40th anniversary shows - 12/17 and 12/19

Wow, ten years flys. Should be some interesting sets. Wish I could go.

Too much red tape these days. If I lived near SF I'd be there in a flash, but with everything going on, and who knows by December what the situation will look like. I hope it is a success, but I can't see the whole world wide Metallica family coming together for this one sadly.

I hope it gets live streamed for $20.

Cool for you guys in the US I guess...but hoping (and assuming they will) ramp up the hype a bit for the rest of us, with some streams, videos, etc ala what Anthrax have been doing.

I assume you guys will go for the 4 Night official Mariott Hotel package for ~$3000 though the bands new MetallicaTravel.com website Don't forget to keep a few hundred spare for Metallica Blackened Whiskey and Metallica Enter Night beer.

I reckon they will have guests onstage again. The best part if that there's chances we will get rare gems on the sets! Fixxxer? House Jack Built? Another go at To Live Is to Die?

A box set of the 30th anniversary to celebrate the 40th anniversary would be really cool, but I think there was a lot of headaches legality wise regarding the guests involved to ever make such thing a reality.

For the shows coming up, I think the guest thing should stay minimalistic, just some fun at the end, not the highlight.

As far as the sets go, I'd love to see them pull off more than a handful of rarities and never befores, not just some generic been there done that list.

Covers a bunch of fan favorites, songs they didn't do for the 30th, and encompasses all eras. Plenty of room for guests too. Ty for entertaining my boredom.

It didn’t strike me as bitter. Could be read as “wow it was scary to do that and I’m not a stage performer any more”.

Oh yeah, Brian May was the other one. Motorhead was on tour in Europe during that time but it's a shame they weren't able to work it into the schedule. I can't believe Lemmy only ended up playing with Metallica a few times over the years. Especially considering he's guested with other bands like the Foo Fighters 10+ times in the course of far less time.

My 40th is at the start of January. I'd absolutely be going to this to share the 40th celebrations if it wasn't for covid :(

Haha I remember going to see them live in 98 and being greatful for it because I thought it'd be the last time I'd see them... Then as time went on and I saw them multiple times again I really do believe they'll be around for some sort of a 50th, at least a reunion of some sort!
