Hello. And I'm sorry. Over the years I've had a couple of different blogs.... for a period of time, I reviewed music for a music site. And last year I decided to take it all up again. The difference now was/is that I wanted to write about albums that meant something to me; albums that I had a strong emotional attachment to. Lots of these albums are from my youth, when I was forming bonds to music. others, are later in life. But all evoke an emotional response in me. Anyway. I thought I might share some links here to a section and then I'll use this thread to post updates. I feel a bit weird doing this because there's something incredibly self-important about doing this... like there is a desire to get praise or whatever. Rest assured; this is not the case. I just thought some of you might enjoy and maybe see some parallels, in my ramblings. Anyway.

I need an account there. Sorry, not signing up.
I wanted to read about Sepultura Chaos A.D. I grew up with this. I don't own it anymore but I have the best songs on their best of.

Us Celts share the love. Or is it cunts? I can never remember. Seriously though, thanks for the kind words. My stuff is probably a bit niche as it can be wordy and relies a lot on personal history but hopefully some folks can connect to it in some positive way.

NEW POSTI've gone deep and dark with the masterpiece 'Marbles' by Marillion. It's a long one so if you're not a fan of the band or the album it's ok to avoid. This record takes me to places in myself that I'd sometimes rather avoid but I love the catharsis of it all. A lot of projection of my own psyche onto the lyrics here., but I'm owning up that from the start! Read it here: wp.me/pbeVro-1c7

NEW POST: STILL THE WINDOW BURNS: 25 Years of Load – Part I (Bootlegs, The Rowing Club & The Metalli-truck)To celebrate the 25th anniversary of 'Load' I've written a 4 part saga that is part rambling biography and part review. In Part 1, I look at my foundations with the band, my first time hearing the album (that I couldn't remember afterwards), bootlegs, trucks, girls and the formation of one of the greatest and most important friendships of my life. It's a prelude. Enjoy. wp.me/pbeVro-gR

That's some fantastic writing there. I felt like I was right with you on this memory journey. Very cool insight into who you were, and who you became.
Are you submitting it to the digital "So What"? If not you definitely should, I'm sure we could pull a few strings over there and make it happen.

jayc that was a very good read and I am not a strong reader, well done. LOAD is also the album that introduced me to MetallicA so I have fond memories of first listening to the album and loving it! wow, that was almost 25 years ago dang. I remember buying the cd at Target of all places, I remember that I loved Until It Sleeps and that was the song that got me into them.

I really enjoyed reading your piece, Jay. Looking forward to part 2.
The newer generations will never fully grasp what it was like without the internet or cellphones back then. There was this sense of unpredictability, DYI attitude, you had to go find the info yourself. It was about eating and breathing the bands, their albums, their biographies, reading every single line notes on the CD booklets, not just hearing a handfull songs here and there. Now, most don't even remember the name of the songs, let alone the name of the bands/ artists they have just listened to.

I hadn't thought about it..... maybe I should tag Steffan in my posts.... jayc that was a very good read and I am not a strong reader, well done. Yes, there was a definite level of commitment required back int eh day for bands. You were either hardcore or not, scraping every inch of Kerrang or Metal Hammer for info, trading boots to get cool shit... great days.

Loved it, Jay. You're such a good writer. I may agree or not with your analysis of the songs but you definitely have a way with words that takes the reader into a trip of emotions and sensations.
PS: Are you still in touch with your 2 buddies? Are they still fans of Metallica? Or were Load and ReLoad too much for them to handle?Haha.
