LATEST REVIEW: Corrosion Of Conformity | Wiseblood | 1996
I guess it's no spoiler to say I LOVE this album. I sort of knew the band but it was this record (and their support slot on Metallica's '96 tour) that cemented them as a favorite. Full of impeccable grooves, some PHENOMENAL drumming for the late, great Reed Mullin and lyrics that, almost 30 years later, I still can't tell you what they mean, this is an album of magnificence. In fact, there is a 7 (SEVEN!!!!) song run that is just... *chef's kiss*. Read the full review here musicbiography.blog/2024/09/04/corrosion-of-conformity-wiseblood/

EXTREME | WAITING FOR THE PUNCHLINE | 1995The last album to feature the ‘classic’ line up is a much darker, live, rawer affair. The sea change in hard rock/metal between 3 Sides and this album is undeniable. Extreme were always a band whose lyrics tackled socially conscious topics, and this is them reaching the natural conclusion to the journey started on album number 1. Aggressive, melodic, funky… it’s all there in this HUGELY underrated album Read the full review here: musicbiography.blog/2024/09/17/extreme-waiting-for-the-punchline/

A Cake & A Chorus 1979-1988This month I will turn 45 and I thought it might be fun to listen to and write a bit about all the songs that have been number 1 in the UK Top 40 on my birthday, every year since I was born. So, let's navigate our way through 45 years of hits, misses and everything in-between. In this decade: The Buggles, The Police, The Bee Gees and other artists who refused to use the definite article! musicbiography.blog/2024/10/04/a-cake-a-chorus-1979-1988/

INCUBUS | MAKE YOURSELF | 1999This album hit me right in the feels. It reminds me of my mates and our band and pubs and clubs and driving cars around the countryside and late nights and all that stuff you do when you're young not realising that it won't last forever..... NEW REVIEW - KISS | KISS | 1974
My love of Kiss started at a young age. I was partly inspired by my Friend's Older Brother (as the arbiter of all things cool) as well as the Animalize: Live Uncensored video. It was the epitome of rock and roll as far as my 8-year-old mind was concerned. Later, I discovered this whole 'other' Kiss that had make up and blood and personas. I was/am much more of a non-make up fan so I decided to go back to where it all began and see how the studio versions of the songs, I knew so well from the live show stacked up. Let's dig in....
