Guess I figured I'd make a Pantera thread rather than continuing the cunt thread.
They re-released Reinventing the Steel. My least fave Pantera record but I still like. They released a Terry Date 2020 mix, and damn does it sound so much better. It is a great example of the loudness wars bullshit. The album is still loud, just not brickwalled to shit like the original. The instruments sound great, clear, and dynamic. This is a prime example of mixing an album well, while still keeping ferocious. The bass guitar is a monster in this which also proves you can jack up the bass on a metal record and it won't destroy the dynamics of the other instruments, if done right of course. I have renewed liking of this album.
Sounds way better than a compressed youtube link of course, so listen to it in a better way. 320kbps or higher.

Reunion/tribute is officially happening with Zack Wylde and the drummer from Anthrax! They better come to my city. This will be an awesome closure and tribute to Dime and Vinny.

Oh come on. This is a tribute, you could say the same about Alice in Chains, Queen and others that have replaced the dead. Metallica shouldn't play Orion anymore LoL.
This is a cool way to say goodbye, and they couldn't have gotten two better guys to fill those shoes.

I imagine there will be giant screens with Vinny and Dime photo montages throughout the show, especially during songs like Hollow or Floods, or when Zack is ripping a solo, Dime will be up on the big screens shredding. As long as there's no holograms, it should be very tasteful and emotional.
Phil and the Illegals playing a bunch of classics in their set was cool, but nowhere close to this.
I've been on a huge Pantera kick the past 48 hours. Rewatched a bunch of the home videos, listened to TGSTK and Reinventing the Steel ( haven't given those two a proper listen in like 15 years. Feels like reuniting with old friends. Watching the home videos made me sad, homesick. I miss being young and just smashing shit up while blasting Pantera.

Is this going to be just an american tour or worldwide? No idea, have ANY dates been announced yet? I'm hoping they headline the Heavy Montreal festival next summer. Seems like the way the promoters here would do it. They could pack the medium sized arena here where most of the bands like Slayer, Megadeth, and Deftones etc play. Not enough draw for the big league hockey arena downtown where Metallica sell out in a minute... But headliners at the outdoor festival is definitely the way to milk those ticket sales. Most people would pass on the smaller arena show, but throw in 30 other bands over 2 days and it's a winner š |

Zakk is fine. Heās signed up as a name, I think thereās a few other guys who wouldāve done a better job, but Zakkās been ascribed this role for almost 20 years now.
Charlie though, heās put in his homework. Absolutely incredible job.
